K&N Intake for SS/TC
Other people didn't have fuel trim issues. I did, though I think it was because I was already tuned for my last intake combo, so that might be why.
Conversely, some people had problems with their MAF being very close to hitting the heatshield, though mine has ample clearance IMO.
Once I was retuned for this intake combo, my car loved it. The only time the intake screws with my MAF is when I'm decelerating and completely off the throttle (but not in decel fuel cutoff, because then it doesn't matter). The AFR will jump around until I either touch the gas pedal again or use the clutch, and it settles right back down again. I think that the air blowing on it and the fact that the car is not pulling much air through the intake to smooth the flow is what's causing it.
I think wind does get to it. There have been times that I've been on the highway and just held the clutch in before downshifting and had a massive fuel trim. That tells me that wind is getting to it and blowing on the MAF. That's only happens when on the highway and has never happened when I'm ont the clutch say coming to a stop at lower speeds. On the bright side, that means lower IAT1s. While moving, I've seen as little a between 1-3* above ambient (usually ~3), never being a huge amount over ambient temp, so that kinda foils the whole SRI-hot air school of thought. It cools quickly after moving after a stop too.
Overall, I'm very happy with it. It sounds fantastic, spools quick, fits well, seems to flow well, and fuel trims are predictable. The only thing I'd change would be the decel AFR thing, but that's just me nit-picking since it's just decel... adds some pops to the exhaust anyway.
