LNF Build starts Tuesday

Whats up guys, its been years since I last posted here. I have an 09 and decided to build my car finally. I bought almost everything besides a bigger turbo, my stock one is still good. Just had a few questions if you guys can help me out.

First, im replacing the valve springs, do I need to get the kent moore replacement tool if im taking apart the motor? Or can I use another type like an autozone one?
Second, do i need an exh cam? I ended up getting the int bigger fuel lobe to pair with the #94 supertechs.
Third, im going e85 and have everything to support hopefully, bigger injectors and cam. Will I be okay running that setup.

Mods bought
intake cam bigger fuel lobe
#94 supertech valve springs
Wiseco Pistons
ZZP rods
Arp head studs
timing set w/waterpump
ZZP raidator hoses
Opel Injectors
ZZP belt
I dont know if im missing anything else but if I remember Ill post.
also going to get the head, valves, engine cleaned up at a machine shop.

If you have the engine or head out of the car the one from autozone should work for you to what I've read here.

Its a bit more work but yeah would save you a few bucks. I got the tool a few months ago pretty cheap and will eventually use it and probably sell it not sure might just keep it

I talked to Matt from ZZP (the LNF tuner) about running E-85 or E-47 with a stock k04 and my ko4r. this is what i got from him.

Hi, Wayne. The factory fuel system will not support full E85. You would need to stick to E47 in that case. For E85 on a stock or small turbo, you could get away with the stock injectors as long as you have the larger high pressure pump, or the larger pump lobe. The factory injectors would need to be replaced if you are looking to run more than 425whp on straight e85.

If your building, why stick with the stock turbo? The ZFR's well is known to get well over 400whp on 93 pump, and the Z54 and Z57 on 93 will certainly out perform the stock K04... The K04 on E-85 won't even touch them from my understanding. I've also seen that you don't need E-85 to push the K04 to its limit, E-47 will do that and you 'll keep half way decent gass milage that way.

Well if you're building the engine I don't see what could go wrong tbh lol. Just make sure you've done your timing chain all that while you are doing all that and have a reliable engine to support a bigger turbo

For sure, I have all the timing components too, everything going in new. Guess it more of the funds than anything for going bigger turbo

get your piston to wall clearance measured and verify your ring gap is appropriate for whatever boost you want to eventually run.

Also get the APR timing bolts from CED

Valve spring tools I used to swap springs in the LE5 head, that is indeed copper pipe (non magnetic). I had to fine tune the length of the copper tool and used a couple washers too, the setup was hitting the valve cover-machined surface.

Plastigage or measure your main and rod bearing clearances. When I built my LE5 2.4 engine, I had to go through 2 sets of main bearings (first set was tighter than second set wth), this is after polishing 0.0008" off the crank mains. It was a 2006 crankshaft going into a 2015 block, but the bearing part numbers are all the same.

One of the solution for a DD with turbo is have a dual boost setup? S256 @17 and 25psi. 99% at the lower boost plenty power. Stock motor.

I am going to say it would be around $180 with tax. Not much cheaper but still better than nothing!

I am out in San Bernardino. Probably 40 min from you.
