LNF Turbo Upgrade / GMS1 Upgrade questions (installation)

How is everyone getting their dealer to flash their PCM? Is it a painless process or do you have to schedule an appointment? How much will it cost in labor fees? Is there any way I can do this myself using a flasher? Do I need to have the dealer splice in the new TMAPs?

Also, how is the stock clutch and gearbox holding up with the extra torque from the kit?

Not sure about the install, but as to the gearbox and clutch... There are tunes out there making way more power then the GMS1 on the stock gearbox and clutch. GM wouldn't release a kit unless they knew it wouldn't make warranty work for them later on. I wouldn't even think about the GM kit doing any harm to the car, as long as it was properly installed. It wouldn't make any sense for them to have the car make so much power that it would break ****, and in turn make them have to pay warranty work out on a bunch of people's broke cars...

I've had my superchips tune for 5K miles now and the clutch and tranny are like new. I've never had the clutch slip even when power shifting without NLS . I'm guessing stage one and the SC tune are right on par with HP and TQ so it's a fair comparison I'm guessing .

The dealer will need to flash it , they have to call the techline with the code from the kit and your vin in order to gain access to the stage tune .

Does the dealer have to splice in the TMAPs to retain the powertrain warranty? Do I have to make an appointment with them, or can they just reflash it from the service bay within an hour?

I would make an appointment . I installed my own stage kit for my SS/SC and took it to the dealer for the reflash ....... I never had a warranty issue so I would say your good to do your own install. The only thing you loose by doing that is some time on the warranty of the actual Tmaps themselves . Instead of the remaining bumper to bumper they will only be covered for 12months / 12K miles .

When they reflash my SS/SC it took about 45 minutes total.

Should I install this kit myself having never worked on automotive wiring before?

It wouldn't be my choice; I'd cut my teeth on stuff with only one variable at issue.

I had the dealer install and flash- it was his first time [blush ]. It was done in an hour 15, cost me $150, right on the GM estimate. It's sweet, and it helps the dealer to know that if it doesn't work, it's something he did or didn't do and he needs to fix, not something he shrugs and looks at me and asks me what I did or didn't do. It's cleaner that way, in my mind, and in the dealer's mind.

My 2 cents.

I'll stick a camera down in there and see if it'll focus on anything.

The mech was smart; I asked him if he had trouble with the connector, he said "No, I trimmed the edge per the instructions, put the car on the lift and connected it from underneath, it's a perfect fit."

The Rules at the bottom of the screen say "You may not post attachments". Maybe I haven't posted enough to attach anything
