Looking for 400+HP

So, now that the cobalt isn't my daily, it's time to start building it. I would like to get at least 400whp out of it. I've searched and searched but can't seem to find a definite answer. I was thinking the zfr, clutch, fmic, and charge piping should get me there? Right now I have a tune, intake, 3" turbo back exhaust. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The zfr should help you get that goal

I know 400 is easy. I was just making sure with the mods that I plan on buying it was achievable. I don't want to buy the parts and get everything installed then it not be enough when it's time to get tuned and what not.

That should be enough, I will also recommend you get good tires and get transmission mounts and CAB

Assuming your exhaust includes the down pipe,,that should do the trick. With the ZFR, it's not so much whether you'll reach a certain power level, rather than whether the rest of your setup will withstand that power level. For 400 you should be fine with just a beefier clutch. Boost ramp to protect your tranny, that will be the next weak link. If you have access to e85 so you can run a blend that will make it even safer. and find a good tuner that has experience tuning a ZFR LNF and is not named Hagerman

I have the catless DP. I plan on tuning at ZZP so I'm not worried about that part of it. Parts list would be intake, downpipe, 3" exhaust, fmic, charge pipes, clutch, flywheel, turbo. I'd like to stay on 93 though.

Don't most guys hit that with the smaller 6758? Is the fuel that low on octane?

Yeah I was thinking with the right fueling the bigger turbo should be pushing 500.

If I was on high boost actuator and e47 I would have been really close to 500

I'll probably go with the 7163. I'm not looking to go with an all out power build, just something fun to drive during the summer.

Well I ordered the front mount and lower charge pipe. In two weeks I'll be ordering a south bend stage 4+ clutch, OEM flywheel, gms1 sensors, 82# valve springs and retainers, and the stage 2 cams from zzp. February I'll be ordering the 7163, then hopefully I'll be in Michigan visiting ZZP as soon as winter (if you can call it that this year in Ohio) breaks.

I can't wait. I'll finally have a reason to look forward to driving this car again. The k04 gets old after 5 years of daily driving lol

The crazy thing is, when I was getting tuned the k04 only dropped from 24-22psi to redline. He said it was the only stock turbo he's seen do that. But, yes having actual top end power will be nice.

I really want to find a car to run before and after the build for a baseline lol. All of my friends cars are either slower already or too built to even try.

Not to blow up your budget or anything, but ZZP recommends running neutral balance shafts and the ATI Super Damper with their staged cam shafts. It'll get the most out of the high revving power of the beefed up head. Just a thought, it's "only" about 700 more in parts while you're in there

I talked to Kyle at zzp, the install manager I believe, and he never mentioned anything about needing them. He's actually the one that suggested the cams, so if it was something they normally suggest together I don't see why they would leave that out.

Interesting... here is where they say it on their web site (at the very bottom). May want to double check with him just in case...
