to be honest, look for G85 hands down.. if it has GMS1 yay if not, nothing major but imo no G85 is pointless

why would GM make this ss without G85, that's like having a summer grill out without hot dogs....

when i looked for/at mine i wanted high rise, rpd, black, and G85...

i got the high rise and g85, you'll have that...

how are the coilovers compared to springs? i have tein basic coilovers on my spec v and i dont really like it too much, too rough, i was wondering if springs would offer a more comfortable ride but id still want it low

Although I don't have a SS I love the spring I have ,Powell YYZ V.3, I'm also on Koni adjustable shocks/struts and a Powell Hardcore rear swaybar.

The ride isn't bad a daily driver and the handling is amazing. On the downside I spent as much as some coilovers, it cost right around $1100.

Meh, everyone has their opinion. I love my sunroof. use it all the time. As for G85, i wish i could use a car with one because I drive the **** out of my car and do just fine.

Not to scare you off, but my sunroof has **** out, I know of quite a few others who have had the same issue and now all it is to me is a lot of weight, high up in the car that creates wind noise.

Great while it worked, sucks now that it doesnt - also you cannot just replace the motor assembly but you must replace the entire track and motor. not cheap or extremely easy.

That is true for all cars with sunroofs and personal preference. Just make sure when you look at the car that the sunroof doesnt click while closing as if it is missing teeth on the drivegear. Mine did, bought the car anyway, broke sunroof.

other than that this car is a blast. Wait til you walk on some EVO's and STi's

Bought my car used. I'm not sure how long the bumper to bumper warranty lasts but definately not to 70k+

I'm still under powertrain until 100k but obvoiously that does not cover sunroofs

Almost no one has a bumper to bumper left. Cars haven't been produced in forever.

Agreed, it is easy. Though, I still don't like it much. I actually don't like the entire center piece and shifter placement, but you can't have everything.

To answer your spring question- I have CanuckMotorsports springs and they will drop the car about 2in (give or take aliitle) to get rid of some of the wheel gap but will still provide a ride that feels almost identical to stock. That being said the coilovers will get you much lower and the Powell springs with the sway bar are suppose to be awesome for handling but won't give you a large drop.

as my sig says i have Stance coils and powells XXX sway bar...

i have another car on i believe they are Sprint 2.0" springs and KYB GR-2 struts, good look, not a horrible ride softer than this by far... but outside of the bumps if you want a softer coilover ride cant you just mess with the damper settings?

so i think i found a worthy cobalt.. just want to know what you guys think on the price. who knows maybe hes on here too..
it has gms1, hardcore rear sway bar, hahn cold air intake, charge pipes, hahn cat back, sunroof and lsd. 33000km, so about 20,000 miles. so its got the basic stuff you want, no tune. he said he might be able to go down to $16,000 (canadian dollar). originally askin 17000
heres the link. let me know what you guys think.

2010 Cobalt SS Turbo - Oshawa / Durham Region Cars For Sale - Kijiji Oshawa / Durham Region Canada.

by the way, how are the transmissions on these? very jerky? short gears?

I dunno about the price since its Canadian.

But lots of people complain about the jerking driving through parking lots. Mine has never done that though except when the engine is still cold. Clutch will go before the trans.

That car looks very nicely upgraded, however upgrades tend to decrease value not increase it (with the exception of GMS1). I am also not familiar with Canadian prices but I paid 12,500 for a 2009 with 68k on it. My car did have some curb rash on the wheels and a small dent on the rear 1/4 panel as well as some paint swirling but I got them down from 14,000 to 12,500 (consignment deal, desperate seller FTW ) But none the less it seems like a "fair" price but definitely not a steal - try to talk them down.

Also realize that those tires are essentially race tires. That somewhat makes me question exactly what this car was doing (was it tracked frequently??). While this is a good thing from a performance standpoint those tires will probably have trouble lasting more than 10k miles if you take it easy on them. Also make sure there is material left on the brake pads (especially fronts) as Brembo pads are not especially cheap. I wouldn't worry too much about the tires though because I actually found some incredibly sticky / decently long lasting tires for $85usd/each:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/whee...rience-298775/

To answer your transmission question this is my first personal car that has had a manual transmission, but I test drove quite a few other cars before buying this one. The best shifter I have felt by far is the Civic Si, but it is often called the best shifter you can get anywhere (Civic Si's are also quite slow lol)

But the transmission is a SAAB F35 unit with a proprietary short throw shifter. I think the shift feel is quite good, throws are short and while it can be "jerky" if you don't work the clutch right (it is a pretty substantial clutch rated at ~390wtq from the factory), it is pretty easy to get down. I have had people mention that the clutch is a bit heavy but I think it feels just right.

There are some basic modifications for the shifter that would make it perfect. at 85,000 miles my shift knob leather is degrading so I would say a TWM performance shift knob down the road and some aluminum base bushings to make it feel a bit more direct. Overall though the shifter is very good and miles ahead of any other FWD American car that I have ever driven.

The gearing in this car is very good, they are actually a bit longer than the gears in the LSJ supercharged cobalt and I think they are just right. First gear goes by fast but it is a fast car, second pulls like a beast and 3rd still feels good (with GMS1 upgrade it will probably feel much crazier than I am used to). Only thing is that at 80mph you are sitting at around 3000rpm crusing, but even then I typically get around 27 at that speed and closer to 32-34 if I slow down to 72mph. No drone or anything.

GO TEST DRIVE IT!!!
