low boost

ok ive had this car for 3 months now and its getting warmer out so im trying to fix this low boost problem ive been having since i got the car . now there is no codes at all and ive never seen more then 5-6 psi of boost . ive done a leak test theres no leaks ive cleaned my maf sensor as well. today i decided to pull the wastegate hose and plug it and boom full boost and more . now obviously i put the hose back on but what would cause this would it be the lower map sensor outta wack and causing the wastegate solinoid to open the wastegate prematurely ?

UPDATE: installed gm 3bar maps and tuned for them also replaced the vac lines on the wastegate solinoid and still only seeing 5 psi of boost . If i do the pill mod i get full boost still .

Really need some help guys.... could my wastegate spring be screwed ??

You sure you don't have leaks?

sounds like your boost control solenoid is toast.

you said when you unplug the BCS but run wastegate only you get full boost, as in 20 psi? 15 psi? I think the LNF wastegate opens at 15 psi.

No i did the pill mod and it gets 20 + psi but without it its 5 psi . Today i went to work on it and battled to get the wastgate actuator adjusted i have the nuts all the way towards the wastegate and i see 9 psi now without the pill mod . i have hp tuners and i cant see anything out of the ordinary execpt my tps tops out at 87% no codes whatsoever

woah careful with that. you dont want to spike 30 psi if you aren't tuned for it. you may window the block.

Yes’m I’m aware of that I’m gonna tune the wg duty cycle on 100% throttle down a bit also lower the dals a bit to try and keep it around 20-23 psi with the pill . I wish I knew what was causing the wastegate to prematurely open .i got the actuator all the way in . I’m thinking the solinoid on the turbo is bad causing to much pressure to go to the wastegate , where that sensor is located it gets a lot of heat from the turbo . I just hate tuning out problems like this but gonna have to until I get it figured out .

Don't run the pill mod.

There is another reason the car is not boosting correct. Reload the stock tune and make sure it's not from an adjustment you made.

It was the stock tune and it was still having low boost without pill mod ... Anyone know where to get a boost solenoid its gotta be that just weird its not throwing a code . I did another boost leak test and all i found is a very small leak in the intercooler where the plastic meets the metal core. its way to slow of a leak to cause me too be missing over 10 psi .

I would worry about getting everything working properly before worrying about 20 psi. Start with replacing the intercooler because if it's cracked now it's only gonna get worse when you start boosting to 20. Try full race.com, for the solenoid. The ones that the borg Warner efr uses are the same as the k04.

Put the stock sensors back. Putting different sensors on without accounting for them in the tune isn't a good idea

What info from zzp? Have someone hook hptuners up and download and check the file.

The boost problem existed before I installed the 3bar maps . I have hptuners and input the following :

In HP Tuners, set the MAP sensor linear to 65.89, MAP sensor offset to -6.35, Boost sensor linear to 65.89, and Boost sensor offset to -6.35.

whats your wgdc set at? Did you mess around with any settings in the tune other than the map settings?

If you start trying to add boost without disabling one overboost command the boost will be limited

all other settings are stock i removed pill and i disconnected the hose to wastegate and plugged it. Im seeing around 15-16 psi thats the springs max i assume, its gotta be the solenoid at this point im gonna order a new one tomorrow .

ok heres another symptom between 5-15 psi the bpv goes nuts blowing off rapidly but this only happens some times if i ease into the boost. Even if i put the line straight to the bpv from manifold . Now from my knowledge the bpv should only blow off if there is a drop in manifold pressure correct ? If so then there is somewhere leaking off boost but not always which leads me to believe its the plastic charge pipes since they expand a lot under boost, might expand iin a way to leak under certain conditions and not leak under some conditions.. this is with bcs and bpv solenoids disconnected and lines plugged.
