Lumbar Support

Guys,

Articles like the autoblog review state they have a lumbar support. I don't think I have one in my car - at least I can't find a knob (perhaps I'm just blind). Was it optional? I didn't see it on the options list.

Thanks, Mal.

It is that wheel on the front right of the seat...I didn't notice it was there for about a week...

There are no knobs on the front of my seat, left or right. On the right there is a dimple in the fabric where some control may have gone, but it's empty. Can anybody with a 2009 confirm yes or no? Also can any others with a Canadian 2009 confirm? I'm worried it was a feature delete to save money, cause my driver's seat lumbar support stinks bad. Can't drive the car for more than an hour. The passenger seat is way better.

Read your manual, lol. Come on man, please don't tell me I am the only one that actually reads the manual front to back.

Yes, I read the manual. Cut out the attitude. Don't you think I checked? Are you sure that the Canadian 09 models came with it? Damn.

Really!?!? So why start the thread if you check the manual? If it is not in the manual, then may be the Canadian model don't have one and thats too bad.

Well, my manual didn't tell me about the change holder feature that's in the centre console. I figured that perhaps it didn't mention the existence or lack of lumbar adjustment in a similar fashion. I simply want to confirm what other people have. No big deal. That's what a forum is for.

I'd still like to hear if I got short changed, or if all 09s don't have it, or if only Canadian 09s don't have it.

Not trying to give you an attitute, but honestly it is in the manual. If there is no knob there, there is a chance that the knob might have fallen off during shipping or something. Try push your seat all the way back and see if you can see where the knob should go. I think the Canadian model should have that same feature.

The fabric covers the dimpled area where the knob would go, so I suspect it left the factory without it.

To quote the manual that I have in front of me, section 1-3:

"Manual Lumbar

On vehicles with this feature, the knob is located on the front of the driver seat lower cushion on the inboard side. Turn the knob clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the lumbar support."

So it does NOT tell me if I have this feature or not. The salesperson never presented it as an option, and I never saw it as an option listed anywhere. I just need to get to the bottom of this before I confront my dealer.

That is so weird. Craw under there and see if you can find where it should go.

I see where it should go, but I don't know if the rest of the hardware made it in or not (not exactly sure what bits in the seat are needed for it). But really it seems like a lot of work for them to offer our fancy seats with and without lumbar you know? I bet the hardware's all in there as it is.

If you could find a car like yours and compare them then you could tell if you have the parts or not. If you are only missing the knob then the dealer should provide you with one. If you are missing everything then I don't know what to tell you.

I have the knob, lol, that sounds funny. *Ahem* yes the knob is located across from your pedals on the right side of the seat. Hope you get that all sorted out. Good luck. If you need another TC for comparison because the dealer is being stupid, I will drive my car to them for you.

Why not just call the dealer and find out? You have a SS/TC, you should have this feature.

Honestly, because they don't know jack. I want to gather some proof and present it to them first. Hopefully my car is simply missing the bits, and I can force them to retrofit. But first, I need to find another 09 Canadian cobalt SS. Marin has an 08, and it has the hardware.

Here's a phone pic of the knob:

If you see the spot where it should go, then you need to have your dealer order a new knob. It is standard on all cobalts no questions asked.

Before going to the dealer though I want to confirm with somebody that has an 09 in the US and/or Canada if they have it. I don't want to look like an idiot when they tell me that the option was deleted from 09s.

Thanks for the help guys.

Mal.

Kaz, awesome. Didn't notice you had an 09. Didn't think it was an option. Last thing I need to confirm to be 100% is to check with another Canuckian 09 owner. Once I have that, I now have the knowledge I needed to pursue the issue further. Thanks for the help everybody. Now, know any 09 Canadian models around here?

I have an 09 and I have it. This is standard equipment for the 09 and it is 100% not an option.

Thanks rocket, but I'm waiting now for a Canadian version, in the strange case that they ship us different seats (!!?)
