Maybe i don"t need a v8

went back up to dealer to look at the black one. 2500 off list is a good price i may just buy it tommorow.

i was a little concern with all noise the motor made but if thats normal. should be a fun car to drive.

whats up with the clutch seems like it releases way late did not feel a hard spring does it get better from a stand still

the dealer also had a red one with lsd/sr and high spoiler

black one was lsd/sun roof

which would you guys go with ? thanks again

the noise is because of the direct injection, and is normal.

and yes, the clutch does catch very high. it's like that in the lsj as well. it takes some getting used to, because the clutch is so short. so many people will burn their clutches, because they ride it a little too much.

Rocking the black with a roof and LSD would be my choice, but you can't go wrong with either!!

Depends on which color red...if victory red then go with the black one...if sport tint red then go with the red one...

No clutch is covered under normal warranty, its a wear item. Usually dealers leave it up to a judgement call under 8,000 miles, anything over that and you are on your own.

Figure about $1500-$2000 for a clutch installed, depending on which one you use and who installs it. You may get it done cheaper, I'm just giving you a ballpark.

Are you serious, $1500-2000? I've never heard of it being that much. I'm not that mechanically inclined, but me and my Brother-in-law installed a new clutch on my Wifes 2000 Celica GTS a couple years ago. Like $250-300 in parts and a days work. I would never pay $1500 for a cluth replacement.

In general, the clutches on the market for these cars range from $700-$1200 when you include some sort of flywheel, which I assume you would as the factory one can't be turned. Also $100 for a new throwout/slave, and the labor charge is pretty high. Warranty time as per GM is 8.6hrs on an LSJ, I assume the LNF will be very close. That means at least $500 in labor at a private shop, over $1000 at the dealer. Like I said, it doesn't have to be that much, but a dealer installed Exedy will set you back over $2000.

the clutch is kinda hard to get to in this car. in the build books, it recommends that if you're pulling the tranny, since it's so much work, unless you're clutch is pretty new or in excellent condition you may as well just replace it. it's not an easy job, and will take a long time. combine that with high labor charges, and you're looking at a hefty fee.

it IS Possible to get a clutch replaced under warranty, if your car is fairly new, but the techs will look for ANY sign of abuse to not replace it. and generally, it will only get replaced if the mileage is low.

Where are you getting your clutches? Thats ridiculous. Last time I checked the clutch for a car ranged from $300-700 and maybe a couple hundred for labor, unless you do it yourself like I always have.

how much to you get clutches installed for? if you do it yourself it would be much cheaper. but install at a shop or dealer will be a very pricey job. it's a shitload of work to drop the tranny

well that's why you don't pay that much then

if you've done clutches on a cobalt, you know it takes a good amount of time. think about the cost of labor as well. it's quite rediculous.
