Are you using NLS? That'll make it pop.

If you're not tuned your red line should be around 6500. If you're hitting the rev limiter it'll pop and make all sort of noise. Your valve springs should be able to handle more than the rev limiter is set. If you are tuned then all bets are off.

WUT?! The engineers set it up for idiots like yourself (redline, plus a little cushion). Keep banging those gears.

No, that's not what I'm saying, I'm sorry.

first - using NLS will make it pop. That's characteristic.

second - banging the rev limiter will make it pop. That's the rev limiter doing the job

third - I couldn't make the blanket statement that having a tune means you need valve springs. I've no idea what the rev limit on the tune is. Or what supporting mods you have. Hopefully your tune is sane and the rev limit is still below the threshold of effectiveness for your springs, but I don't knwo enough about your setup to tell.

And there are guys here better at that than me, anyway.

My rev limit is stock. Had my tuner leave that alone to save the motor. And yes I have pegged it before an it does pop both then and yes when I nls. It's not the popping I'm worried about. It's an actual miss in the motor. I use my nls, and then hit the next gear, and its like an injector or coil or plug cuts out until I let up.

dude i think i know what you're talking about, but it's not what everyone else is talking about. my car has done it from 1st to 2nd a handful of times. it sounds like it's popping a million times a second, but it's after i've engaged 2nd from 1st.....tell me if i'm on the right track. lol

I'm getting the 'popping million times' more often, especially when shifting from 1st to 2nd, seldomly going into 3rd. I assumed a bad coil pack so got a new one and installed it on different cylinders and it still occurs. I'm trifecta tuned 24 psi on e47 and fit seems to be more misfire prone on the tune and when cold out.....What causes this? Please advise so I know what else to check. Thanks!

I know what your talking about .... back when my car was new and stock... it did it after a NLS (1st to 2nd) ...... she sputtered and popped until i let off the throttle . It seem like the pcm had a brain fart or the system that controls the valve timing had an issue .

Its never happened again but ive only NLS'ed this car 4-5 times in its life.

I've wondered if the solenoids that control the cams are causing the misfire....I'm gonna pull them out and inspect.

What other sensors could cause this prob? My misfires are strange as once my oil is up to temp they go away.

When i would miss the nls ( too slow shift, or too high rpm ) it would do that.

Some one please, has to know what this issue is. Maybe it's covered under warranty? If so I stil have most of the stock parts I would need.

mine does it badly, then the other day it did it and the reduced engine power bulletin came on along with my check engine light staying on this time.
Had it scanned and was told it was my high pressure fuel pump...
