My new tick tick ticking turdmobile

After 400 miles I can't deny that I love this little rocket. In my old 07 2.4 SS it was all about the chill and smooth rollin for me. I had time to wave at grand-ma nessie across the street, could enjoy the scenery and would just contently smile at the civic that revs its monster mufflered car at me.
This SS/TC has changed things.. -->Did I just hear a Vtec 3 miles away??? FLOOR IT!! I swear G-ma nessie just flipped me the bird! GUN IT!! Smoke her till she drops the walker! Why is everyone staring at me? I'll take em all down a quarter mile at a time!!... I went from listening to Barry Manilow to Gwar. From eating mouth watering shrimp to mouth chomping whale. Went from relaxed and happy to stressed and chaotic. You get the point. And for some reason it is worth it Go figure..

Oh yeah forgot the point of the post. My car ticks at startup. It ticks at idle. It just ticks ticks and ticks. I know it's just a direct injection thing-> but it makes the car sound like junk. Who's gonna come out with the first anti tick mod? lol. Consider my $$ in your pocket already Honestly, even with the "tick" this car is a bang for the buck all star. Go get yours people.

LOL u guys are a trip. I really missed the intended point of this thread.

Any other TC owners bothered by this direct injection ticking? It drives me nuts.

My duramax had at least twice as loud of tick when it was new, but it went away (or at least got quiet enough not to be heard over the rest of the engine) after 5000 miles or so.

mwaaahahhahahahah lmao. just like those VW TDI (turbo direct injection) jettas and Golfs. I was considering getting one and modding the hell out of it. Changed my mind for numerous reasons. Plus most of those guys are pompus jerks! some of em were cool but not like the guys and girls around here.

I had one of those and used to be one of those guys (not the pompous ones). You can get some serious torque from those motors. People are breaking 200WHP and 400+WTQ! (remember these things redline at 4600rpm) with VNT-20 turbo swaps, injector swaps and tunes.

Well go to tdiclub.com and check it out. They're just like that. so i got a good kick outta his comment about the massive abouts of torpu3. I wasn't trying to sound special. plus i haven't been to bed yet so i'm a little geared up.

that's one of the reasons i was concidering purchasing one. Plus the amazing fuel milage. Concidering my dad retired from GM after busting his ass there for 30 years and watching the way america has lost it's pride i think he ICE me for buying something not American.

Plus - when things start to break on the VW - parts are crazy expensive. VW's tend to have complicated solutions to fairly simple problems - just take a look at the power window system on an MK4 Jetta / Golf...I bet the elevators in the empire state building are less complicated than that crazy riggin in those door panels. An injection timing solenoid will cost you about 500 - 700$ and your injection pump (that costs about 1500 - 3000$) has more moving parts than an entire gasoline engine. But it was fun while it lasted!

You must never have the radio on...and constantly hang your head out the window to hear the ticking all the time.

You want ticky and clanky?

Listen to a Suzuki motorcycle.

I only hear it when I'm outside the car...so no, doesn't bother me. I'm used to diesels anyways so ticking is just normal in my word.

HAHA thats hilarious!! I reread it and saw how lame it was, not to mention not even on topic. But I was tipsy and ready for bed so I clicked "submit" anyway.

Thanks for the props guys. Guess I'll just have to deal with the "tick". Maybe a better exhaust will cure my woes.
