How does the car feel at speed with the plasti-dip on the wheels? It kind of always worried me, since Plasti-Dip is pretty heavy, that the wheels would be thrown off balance.
Also, just a thought, you might want to try and get the paint out of the lug wells, another thing that always scared me was the nuts not seating properly.

yeah im in the navy, stationed in virginia beach with VFC-12. kinda "joe navy" to have my squadron in my sig but i thought it would be a nice touch.
thanks for the compliments!
i havent noticed any shaking in the steering wheel and driving.
i was wanting to lower it with some pedders before i painted the rims since you notice the wheel gap so easily with blacked out rims. but next month im getting new tires (desperately needed), pedders and rotors/pads. waiting on this TTR group buy to put on the trans mounts and engine mount.

Its supposed to be black.
And yes it's "another" blacked out cobalt, if it looks good why not? It's a clean look. Why do most people buy aftermarket headlights or black them out or paint them. It looks good, and then when people go outside the box they get flammed. Not going to please everyone I guess

i heard you can order or buy clear plastidip to give it a "gloss" look to it but ive heard if you throw a clear coat on top of it that it screws up plastidip and pretty much makes it slime? i dont know for sure.
@ cobaltss/tc
yeah i have no problem with people thinking its over done, its the look im going for. its budget building at its finest hahaha

i think its just like a clear plastidip, i know you can order your own custom colors for "dipping" and i guess if you have a spray gun. it may not come in the aerosol can

Hahaha the cards crack me up lol. Gets the job done i guess.. lol never seen that one. Im a painter and seen many ways to do things, I personally would have spent the extra time to have the tires taken off then prepped it and sprayed the entire wheel with base and clear so it would have a sealed clear coat all the way around the lip. Problem is finding a tire shop that gives a rats ass about scratching your wheels after their painted... damn highschool part timerss.....

They look a little too flat on a glossy black car for my taste. Though some tire shine would help the overall look. Might look different in person and, like has been said, it's your car so as long as you like who cares

haha separated at birth!
as far as the paint it can be darker and glossy i just did a couple LIGHT coats to see how it works. so far so good. i kinda like the flat/gunmetal-ish look
you dont need to tape off the tire any better because this stuff can just peel right off so if you give any kind of scrub to the tire the next time you wash youll be set. trust me i HATE overspray but it wasnt paint and theres no sign of it on the tire, it comes out pretty thick so what you aim at is getting the full effect.
thanks for the compliments. just thought id share my project so anyone else who is thinking about doing this has some idea of what it looks like.

When you post up stuff like this, you get opinions either way. I personally hate black-on-black. I'm tired of it and it was 10 years ago. Your ingenuity, on the other hand, I applaud.

I'm guessing you can't use wheel cleaner anymore?? I'd think that would take the plasti-dip right off.
Can you still wash the wheels with soap and a brush or will that pull off the plasti-dip too??
