need help getting the cobalt out of the mud
Ok so my driveway is dirt no gravel or anything. My garage is in the back of the house and last night it was raining, sometimes its a little bit of a pain to get into the garage but I got stuck last night about 4 feet in front of the garage. I feel like a jack ass This is the first time I have ever been stuck in anything and not been able to get it out. My problem is I dont know where its ok to attatch a tow strap to the back of the car I thought the rear axle are but didnt want bend it or something. and dont want to jack the crap out of my bumper.
any ideas?
can not drive the car foward or back tried digging it out with no luck
Josh
by the way you can all point and laugh as much as you want I deserve it

Lay down some plywood in front or behind the front wheels for traction and get someone to gently push the car onto them.
If it's not stuck down to its axles or something, there's also the tried and true method. Get someone brave to just push the front of the car while you floor it backwards. This has gotten our vehicles out of shallow mud a few times... You might owe your friend a few beers though, since he'll be DRENCHED.

A long time ago I buried an old '64 Dodge in a field. Tried boards, mats ect. Thank God for farmers and tractors and chains.
I would think if you used two tow straps on the axle close to the wheels you'd be ok, but I'm no expert.
Good luck, no laughing from here.

these are what I would suggest. If you have to tow it out, I would attach the tow hook to the frame somewhere, not the torsion beam. It MAY be ok to pull from the beam, but if you're under there already it's just as easy to attach to the frame, and much less risky. The torsion beam is strong, i've jumped up and down on it no problem, but that's up and down, the way it's designed to move. I'm not sure how it would hold up being pulled backwards with the weight of the car. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. The torsion beam is expensive.
well got her out sort of. what I did was use one of my floor jacks and jack up the back end once that was in the air I had enough room on the front to put my other floor jack under where I have been lifting it by right behind the front tire. jacked up and laid down one of my trailer ramps under the front pass tire its about 6 feet ling and I laid it down upside down so the open side of the angel iron was facing up. It got me into the garage anyway I was more worried about messing up under the car like the intercooler as the mud was about a inch or so below the lip haha.
Thanks guys I looked up under it and its still clean around the engine area so thats good.
hopefuly no mud in the tires (my cousin vinny)

Lay a bunch of kitty litter under the front tires. Attach a strap to the rear torsion beam. Don't pull it out though. Use another car to aid in the pulling. You should be in your car letting your car do must of the work.
You will not hurt that rear torsion beam unless your hanking the car of pulling the car well not making any forward progress.

You might cause the clutch position sensor to get an error if you slip the clutch while rocking the car. Just be prepared to lose your cruise control and to get the code erased at the dealer.
No kidding right
I looked into laying a rock drive way but its going to run me over a g for rock and that does not include getting the top soil scraped off so it all dosent all just suck into the ground major downer. will have to bring in at least a truck load to spread on the driving lines into the garage but hell thats 400 for a tandem
didnt get any codes and I have a dash hawk so I could reset it anyway. Whole reason to pull it into the garage was so i could install my freshly painted headlights and not get wet.

got my TC hung up on rocks once when i went off the edge of a gravel driveway backing up in the dark... bent the heat shielding around the exhaust... towed it out with driving and a 4 wheeler... don't remember what i hooked the strap to but it was a beam somewhere up front. good luck!
