I had the Goodyear Eagle GT's on my Cavalier and my mom had them on her Beetle, there an ok tire, they are good for a year and then they start to loose traction abilities really fast and they do wear out really fast.
I was thinking maybe the Goodyear Eagle F1 all seasons for my next tire, but if someone else knows of another tire that is good I'd also be interested in knowing.

Traction isnt really a big deal to me, I never lose it. lol But Im in the same boat then. I need new tires and dont know what to get. I was looking at the DWS because they had great reviews and long tread life, someone I know auto x's his RSX and says he loves them.

I spent alot of time deciding, then in the end bought two pairs of virtually new ContiSortContats (OE BMW) for less than one new ContiSportConact2 would have costed me locally...
I would have preferred something with a tread rating higher than the CSC2's 280 - but meh...
I can also be finicky - I wanted a good looking tire - I don't like all the ones that have the aqua-tread style ("V" shaped tread pattern) ~ since all the cheap tires are like this...
If I were you I'd look on local classifieds/nickle adds to see if you can score something cheap;
and you can go with a 223/40 or 225/45 with only negligible speedo error...
My brother has the BFG's that everyone here loves - and he says the tire noise is crazy...
I narrowed my choices down to (on tire rack);
Continental Extreme Contact DW (this was the preferred; 340 tread rating)
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position (400 tread rating)
Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 (320 tread rating)
I was willing to compromise all out traction for longevity, quiet on the highway, and wet driving manners.
Also keep in mind that people are much more likely to complain about any given item rather than give it praise... so if you read the reviews, take some of them with a grain of salt.
good luck! ~ with any luck I won't have to be back in your spot in a years time!
this is the tread design I am currently running;

I went with the Hankook Ventus V12's for budgetary reasons (I really burn through tires) and because reviews were very good. I'll be going back to the same tire on the next set. Great tire for $95.

Do not buy goodyear eagle gt's
I have had mine for 15K miles and they are almost bald on the out sides, my alignment is perfect.... they do not handle any sporty driving.

I have the DWS on my stock rims. Nice tires, but a little soft in the twisties compared to my Cooper RS3-S with a 300 tread wear rating. The Coop's seem to handle and stick really well to the road.

I have dunlups on mine and I have no idea the exact miles on them but I got the car with 68k miles on it and I have put about 5k on them and the road noise is/always has been crazy loud so I will never buy them again and I will still look around for tires and consider every bodies suggestions and thoughts

I looked at some extreme dws wasn't impressed . Personally I love my nitto neo gens.
In the past ive always had good experiences with bridgestones. Avoid sumitomos and pirelli both seem spotty to me.
