Newbie with new '09 SS
Picking it up Tuesday. Got it for $17,500! Can't wait! It was a "GM" auto show car. It only has 83 miles on it. I was wondering if it comes with synthetic from the factory? I wouldn't think so for break in purposes.

If anyone is interested GM's going to be selling some of the "production" Camaro's that are in their final stage of testing...
They've only been driven through pot-hole courses, sat in salt baths... But hey you'll get a great deal!
Congrats dude! 17.5k is hell of a deal though, just as long as it's in pretty good condition. The SS/TC that I sat in at the Detroit Auto show didn't show any signs of wear at all from what I could tell. So if it was in that condition you're basically getting a brand new car for thousands less!

It's in mint shape. The salesman actually went with me on the test drive. I looked at him and said, " you sure you wanna go?" Think he was sorry he did once we got back. I really like the sound of the Trifecta tune. But I'm gonna take it easy at least until the first oil change. If GM comes out with a tune by then that is comparable and won't void the warranty, I might go that way. Definatley will get a tune though. I am so excited to go pick this thing up I can't stand it! 4 door BTW, maroon, loaded with EVERY option except RPD.
OH, they told me it was used in the Car and Driver review. "GM" auto show car. I looked it up on youtube, yep, there it was.

Did you get the full warranty with it?

That is a myth about newer engines that they need to be broken in with conventional oil or they will not break in properly. The truth is newer engines are made to much more exacting standars and tighter tolerances than the older ones, and while synthetic oil provides greater wear protection that conventional oil it does not prevent the engine from wearing completely. If that were the case your motor would never wear out or loose compression ever. That is just completely not true your motor will still break in with synthetic in it and it will break in better. Because of the extra protection that synthetic provides it will not wear out as quickly.
