Official SS/TC Muffler Delete Sound/Video clip thread
im gettin a ss/tc in about a week.. but i never really paid attention to the ss/tc stuff til now. and i must say this idea sounds kinda dumb but if it works then i might do it and save myself $500 from buying a new exhaust
first off how loud is it? is there any hp/tq gains? any CEL?

zero CEL, not very loud unless you have your foot down. You won't gain anything hp/tq wise on anything u do on the ss/tc without a tune, that has been proven time after time already. I think with a larger tip the muffler delete would sound a little better than the stock tip, i have yet to experiment with this but another member has a 4.5inch tip on his ss/tc with muffler delete, tho everyone who has done the muffler delete loves it after anyway.

OMG, how'd I miss this LOL-erific thread. Why is this, of all things, stickied yet the TVS FAQ which is very useful, is not...
FYI, I have nothing against this mod, it's no more ricer than a boost bypass mod some did before tuning was avail. If ift sounds good, then it sounds good. Cutting a muffler will not show a huge gain (or loss) in hp/tq nor set off a CEL. It'd need a sensor in the muffler to trigger a CEL.

pretty good chance of that i got the GMPP on my SC and it gets enough attention
i have muffler delete, I plan on going to muffler shop and asking him to cut out my over the axle bend and redo it with bigger piping so it wont restrict there. Then when I get a downpipe I will pretty much have a full exhaust. **** spending 600 bucks for the same thing. as long as it moves the air quick and sounds good im happy. I got so used to my no muffler it sounds kinda quiet to alot of the other cobalts I roll around with. I wonder what it would sound like if i cut the resonator out.

I've driven it, totally worth it. I think he paid $50 and the job looks sweet.

im thinking of doing this and have been calling around but all the estimates that i have gotten has been anywhere from $60-$100 which seems high compared to prices i have been reading here.
also one question i have is after they took out the muffler did you have them install a just a straight pipe or a straight pipe through a hollowed out muffler to pass any inspections. and what size was the pipe that you put in, in place of the muffler?
