Which options for 2009

Probably will get a 2009 SS/TC later this fall. What options would you get (or what did get if you already have a 2008 or ordered a 2009). I know this isn't a complete list, but these are the big ticket option items.

High mount rear spoiler
Sunroof
6 disc in-dash CD changer/MP3 player
Limited slip
Reconfigurable display (2009 only)

I'll pass on the big wing and sunroof. Definitely will get the limited slip and display. Probably will get the optional stereo.

I'll consider Summit White or Imperial Blue, but I'm really seriously leaning towards Silver Ice Metallic. Sorry, but I have completely ruled out black, yellow, and both reds.

The 6 disc is no longer an option. The only radio option is with the USB port for iPod or other MP3 device.

All else looks good.

I stand corrected on the stereo. Guess I was looking at the 2008 when I listed the 6 disc changer. That makes it simpler, I don't need the ipod port.

You can get a summit white SS/TC??? Is that a new color option for 2009? Cause you still can't get a white SS/TC for 2008???

Well I may have to get this as my last resort when my SS/SC's lease ends in 10 months, I'm trying to get a Pure (white) Solstice GXP Coupe next summer but we'll see...

So I'd get a white (if really possible) or Silver SS/TC, with light grey interior, sunroof, high rise spoiler, LSD, and maybe the reconfigurable display depending on how much it'll cost... Thank god I get GMS pricing...

It's 100 bucks and opens up a whole world of MP3 possibilities. I would get it just because it will be a desirable option to have for resale.

Dude... get the sunroof... it makes the interior seem so much bigger... which is a huge plus on a small car.

Yeah you can get summit white, but it wasn't an option for '08.

There are rumors that Summit White will be offered for 2009 and there are other rumors that say they dropped it. Not sure what to believe. Edmunds is still listing white as available for the 2009 SS/TC. I have a sunroof on my Grand Prix and haven't used it in like 4 years. Why listen to MP3 when you lose sound quality?

2009 MSRP option costs:

High mount rear spoiler = $150
Power sunroof = $750
Limited slip differential = $495
Reconfigurable display = $295

You really aren't losing sound quality when you use a USB port.

Summit white is still available. I check the distribution updates every week.

Do you understand what an MP3 does? It compresses the audio files...that is the point that was made...

If you use MP3s, the quality is not as good as using the actual audio CD.

I suppose I should have stated, "that much"

If you can notice...well you're a sick audiofile.

And CD's are a PITA.

For a guy that likes the convenience of mp3, the loss of a little sound quality might be well worth it. I don't have an ipod and I can tell the difference in mp3 vs. lossless music and I'd never use the port, so why spend extra. It's purely a matter of personal preference.

Technically no and my old burned CDs at a 96 kb rate w/ crappy encoders hurt my ears compared to a CD, but a 128 kb-196 kb rate w/ a good encoder I can't tell much, if any, difference.

I'd rather have the higher song capacity

Maybe you cannot tell the difference, but there is actually a difference. Don't you wonder why an audio CD can only hold 12-15 songs while an MP3 CD can hold 175+ songs?

That being said, there is a HUGE difference between 96 kbps and 128 kbps...

Car audio is highly subjective. What sounds good to your ears might not sound good to my ears. Let's just agree the nature of mp3 is compression of sound and leave it at that. If you want and need an ipod port, great, get one. I think the standard CD player will still play mp3 CDs unless I'm sadly mistaken. The only difference I can tell is the port.

I believe so. And it would be nice to have unlimited storage at your disposal. You could get a 40 GB hard drive and have 10,000 songs at your disposal (I'm assuming a portable HD would work...)

The optional reconfigurable display that will be available starting in 2009 is "gauge" that goes in the A-pillar where the 2008 boost gauge currently resides. It will be programable to display almost anything the PCM monitors (similar to Interceptor AeroForce aftermarket gauges). Not 100% sure, but might even be able to change color.

A list of some of the things it can display (not a complete list):

Air/fuel ratio
Shift light
Digital MPH
Boost
Engine Temp
Outside Temp
Current weather for the day
Tire pressure
Oil Temp
Spark advance
Knock retard

Yeah, I'm totally getting the reconfigurable display... If I do end up getting a SS/TC

Cool to hear about the summit white being available on the 09 SS/TC, because that's definitely what I'm getting... Then I'm going to powdercoat those rims matte blacks... Ballin!

It is the port. I'm just saying at $100...it is worth it for the next buyer.

It is true, that MP3 does compress the files... however, with new technologies in encoding, like VBR mp3's and WMA's, the noticability of said compression is exponentially less.

Also, I don't know (and rather doubt, but still) if the new decks will decode any FLAC or flac-type compressions, but just a quick FYI for all of you out there who years back rejected MP3's because of the loss, just know that FLAC and flac style encoding has ZERO loss. Look it up... roughly the same size as 128kbit MP3 but the sound of full WAV's...
