I still have you in mind once it's running and broke in. You're the closest tuner I'd trust to do anything. Still debating on e85. My next concern is breaking the trans if I go that route.

I'm out about $2000 but recouping $800 from warranty. Not super bad right now but this all needs to be completed and the car reliable before I buy a house later this year.

Installing those keepers can be nerve racking, making sure its the right side up and not dropping them in the head. Atleast the first couple times doing it. Magnetized tools ftw lol

I almost bought a new head instead. Oh well. Dwelling on poor decisions doesn't fix anything.

Only problem is now I'm good and paranoid about the whole car and think a conservative 91 tune is the only safe option. But I really do want more out of the car considering the investment so far.

yeah i mean honestly you cant mess up installing keeers....they go in one way. if they go on the opposite way the spring wont seat.

personally man i think you need to consider having a sop thats familiar with these motors go through it or just have your brother do it if hes as good as you say he is and go from there.

I'm buying a complete crate motor this time. Already dynoed and run by GM. No more screwing around.

A page or two back I posted my AFRs... 14.7 idle and 15.3 at 2,000 rpm no load trying to burp it. Seems really lean but is that normal under no load? I hate being this paranoid about everything.

i wouldnt say its out of the question when its bouncing around..... if its just doing that steady then thats a different story. i mean i run my car a lot leaner then most do here but there is a fine line on whats TOO lean.

none the less something does go that fast because of being too lean.... atleast not a mechanical valve failure. ive seen them fail at extremely high rpm or because of too high of egt or too much timing or just from the timing chain breaking etc.

sounds like something was done incorrectly when the valves were done.

It was holding steady and then in the 14s under very light throttle test driving. I can't help but wonder if the part throttle needs more attention. I figured a canned tune would be safe but I'm unsure of this one now. It's going back anyway because the crate motor has larger injectors. I am not driving this car hard until I have a dyno tune.

i recommend throw a stock tune in for break in or if you have the 3 bars done a gms1 tune. its plenty ok for break in.

I'm getting a reflash for free to calibrate for the injectors and address the lean idle and cruising. Got a good driver mod. I can keep my foot out of it for a while. I have to. New clutch in there. Is an e85 tune safer if you go conservative? I want it running safe but would like to see 300whp and 360wtq or so. If I gotta map out fuel stations for 93 or E85 I may as well run E if it's safer. Gas station close buy gets really consistent ethanol. Tests at 87 usually and my buddy runs it in his 800hp wheelie machine.

Complete LDK is ordered. Hats off to Zoomer and the other ZZP staff for their support. You guys are amazing! It's good to know there is a company out there that has integrity and isn't just out to get your money. They have truly gone above and beyond.

Tentative install date is April 12th if I can manage to wrangle my brother out here from Des Moines.

Once everything is done I will post up a for sale thread which will include: stock intercooler and pipes, LNF block that needs a sleeve and piston, stock springs, and maybe the almost new LDK block (pending damage review of cylinder 2) to try and recoup some of the cash this bitch has sucked out of me.

Interested in your LDK block depending on the damage review.

I am actually excited to see how this build goes!

Not an update but I did some digging. After reviewing all the available LNF downpipes, that is a Badmab downpipe (pic on page 1). They are only $135 shipped. Anyone have one? How is the quality? I don't know how old mine is or what it's been exposed to. The car doesn't appear to have seen any winters but the downpipe does have a bit of surface corrosion. I guess if something goes wrong with it I will just pick up a ZZP DP.

Ok so the motor got shipped on the 26th and was about 4 hours from me at 8:45 this morning. The tracking hasn't updated since. I would very much like to install it Saturday. Maybe if we all pray to the car gods (thank them for ball bearing turbos and titanium valve springs) just maybe it will actually get delivered tomorrow like it says and just maybe nothing will be broken and with a little luck perhaps this engine will not explode and kill everyone in the garage upon startup. A man can dream.

My buddy had a Badmab downpipe and the flex section rusted through. I would just go with ZZP, that's what I have on my car.

I've had a badmab for about 4 years now. No issues what so ever. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the input on the downpipe. I will keep it until it requires replacement. I don't see much difference in one catless mandrel bent pipe to another performance wise.

It has been delivered, it's payday, and only an hour left of work. Perhaps my luck has changed.

Up early. Excited to get started in a couple hours. I will take pics but this should be pretty straightforward as it's a complete swap.
