plastic rings on stock charge pipe
plastic rings on stock charge pipe
Well i got my zzp upper charge piping and it says to cut the plastic rings is there anyway to buy more of those plastic rings and when i want to go back to the dealer i can just install them with the old charge pipe so the dealer does not know i changed it? also how would you get thoose stock plastic rings back on.
Glad to see that you received it! Is everything to your liking? Sorry I cant answer your question on the Factory Charge Pipe Rings. I was thinking of buying a second Factory Charge Pipe to cut up when I purchased the ZZP Upper Intercooler Pipe. I beleive there is someone selling one in the classifieds for $70 Shipped.
Yeah I'm probably going to order mine today...maybe but if you want to cut off those platic rings (you have to lol) I would use a pair of dikes
And if that doesnt work a sawzal always works lmao

you dont have to cut the original pipe just the plastic ring clamps that hold it on from the tubing to the charge pipe.
70 shipped is ridiculous and yes it came and is to my liking only thing when i got it i seen a whole in the box and i was like oh **** its fucked but it was in a spot the charge piping wasnt thanks again

Oh, I see what you mean. They want you to cut the rubber ring retainers off so you can use the original t-bolt clamps. I see. Just order some t-bolt clamps from siliconeintakes.com. They're like 6 bucks apiece. The intercooler clamps are 2.5" and the turbo outlet is 2". You'll get them in 2 days.
All you do is cut off your plastic rings that connect the silicone couplers to the stock chargepiping
You dont have to take the coupler off the turbo at all, zzp makes it easy lol

no im not saying that i just dont want to go to the dealer with the stock oem chargepipe and have silver clamps holding it on when those plastic rings are suppose to hold it on.
OK, now I'm confused again. Let me clarify. Are you talking about these clamps?

If you are, I've never heard of anyone needing to cut these off. I you're trying to use the original rubber tubing, I'd say buy some silicon tubing instead.
Or are you talking about cutting this clamp retainer, so you can use the original clamp?

If so, I would say buy some aftermarket clamps and use those instead.
So to summarize: don't cut anything off your original pipe that you can just buy from siliconintakes.com. That way, you can always put your OEM piping back on if you need to .

For those of you who don't have or have never seen th ZZP charge pipe, yes you cut those plastic rings, you reuse the silicone pieces from the factory unit.As for putting the original back on for the dealer, here is my advice,Use worm clamps, and just tell them the originals were leaking and you fixed it like this, there is already a TSB with problems regarding the stock charge pipe,I doubt the dealer would think twice about it.
I think everybody is confused lol in order to use zzp's chargepiping you have to cut those plastic rings off
Then once cut off install there CP (they give you t-bolt clamps) your all set
But you HAVE TO cut those plastic rings off, you cant reuse them

Screw that. I'd just order a new silicon elbow from siliconintakes.com. Who am I kidding? I just wouldn't buy ZZP's pipe. There are other brands don't require you to pull the original piping apart.
And you dont have to pull the original pipe apart, cut the ring off and there ya go, your all set its that easy
Every other brand out there requires you to pull the stock piping off weather its the plastic ring or the silicone elbow
