Porous block????

Would porous block instantly dump a full coolant overflow into the oil? Car is a 2008 with 140k. Why would it take so long to happen?

ECaulk 05-08-2020 04:19 PM

The porous block issue isnt the only reason that happens.

The general idea was the engines effected by the porous block where from 2009.

yeah it was built 06/08. I have 2 other lnfs with the same build date and one has 180k without a bad block. Dont seem like a headgasket either

Sorry man. You're in good company. That build date looks to be the tail end of the model year. I think mine's an August date for the following model year. Very likely yours is in the bad batch of blocks. An LDK from zzp won't have that problem.

From what I have read and seen previously, most porous block issues have showed up well before 100K miles and mostly in 2009 LNFs

I’ve read of some late 08s on here. I’m just confused on why it would happen after 12 years / 140kmiles. And why it empty’s the antifreeze instantly. Car is completely stock as well

exninja 05-09-2020 03:37 PM

Because it's fatigue in aluminum. It can happen at any time. There aren't many other options. If it were the oil cooler you'd likely see oil in the coolant rather than vice versa due to pressures, but you could check it.
