Possibly trading 06 SS S/C towards 09 SS T/C
The search continues for an 08 or 09 SS/TC... Hopefully third times a charm and I don't get lied to just to get me into a dealership where I'll just tell them to **** off.

i dont see it being worth it unless you like being upside down save your money buy some mods for your S/C. It was the day i found out the LNF balts come with k03's i was crushed VW turbos in American cars god what is this world coming to?
Just like car and driver said the biggest upgrade on the TC over the SC is not the engine but the steering and the suspension. The TC also has better axles and motor mounts. I drove a RL back in the day and that is no comparison to the TC. Go TC or go home.
Appreciate the feedback. I'm going to try to get up early and drive there tomorrow with the S/C and see if we can work out a deal and see how I like it. They are going to call me tomorrow morning so I'll have a better idea of exactly what will happen.
I just don't have the cash to be fixing all the crap everywhere on the car... sadly it's the little things on the car that **** me off lol. The rims especially, chips on those drive me nuts.

you could die tomorrow ... Get it while you can ..
Import killer has very strong words about the SC lol as do I . I wouldn't buy a SC if it was the best deal on the planet . No offense to you SC guys... I know you guys have a broader range of after market solutions to make big power.. The biggest thing to me as a tuning and big power aspect is the fact we have this Pain in the ass direct injection system with not a whole lot of support . We can raise the fuel pressure but we can't run E85 we have no other types of DI we can even use , we have better stock suspension but you CAN upgrade the SC suspension . The SC has smaller front Calipers which are about the same stopping power as the brembos not to mention the weird bolt pattern the delta cars use you can find about twice as many rims that will fit for the SC vs the TC unless you do the front swap , the rear SC brakes do not fail within the first 20K
You need to think about this
A tc you will most likely in the first 10k-20k miles need to:
replace the intercooler or pray that you don't hit a pot hole or pull up to a curb and scrape the IC
replace rear pads and rotors
You are going to want after market pipes
If you do get it just get the GMS1 and keep the warranty man , you are about to go up side down so to speak and moding the TC could give your pocket book a much larger hit than you initially expected

Upside down is no good... no matter how you slice it.
There's nothing like owing 23k when your car is worth 15-16k. The TC is a big upgrade as far as suspension, brakes, the radio and the RPD if it has one. Also the engine is quite nice for factory but its not really the focal point of the car.
My suggestion is... if you do end up trading for the TC, at least get gap insurance.

If you can get the SS/TC without going upside down .... then i would go for it . The TC is a great car .... but not worth rolling over a lot of money to get.......... if you already have an SS/SC .
The interesting part about all of this is that I don't actually own my S/C yet. So I have absolutely no obligations to it except for payments/insurance. Granted, it'd be a dick move to up and say "not my problem" and pick up the T/C, however I got screwed when my "stepdad" said we'd split the payments and bam, divorce happened lol. I guess he took it out on me, but yeah, wasn't part of our deal either so according to personal law I'm not obligated to any contract anyways. So in other words, this is about "Which one would I take if I had the option" given the circumstances render going upside down not necessarily a possibility. I have two options with it, I'll break even on the car I could trade in OR I can try to trade it elsewhere to get it off my hands OR I can just give it back to the ex-stepfather and say to hell with it and get my T/C anyways, lol. Just giving all of you some insight to make it more of a realistic scenario. And no, I'm not lying about the whole stepfather thing lol.
I dunno.. the TC's are pretty damn good cars, fun to drive, but there's always lemons out there. Even mine, the ECM went in the first 1000 kms, poof and I had to wait over a week for another one for a brand new car. Another local guy here had a bum tranny that broke 4 times lol. But I haven't had a single problem since. I think the biggest things would be to check to see what day it was made on; you don't want a car built on a monday or a friday, caveat emptor, and also you gotta maintain these things or they'll just bite you in the ass. Most cars would probably take a bit of **** n abuse, but direction injection is pretty finnicky. I change my oil more often than I would in a "normal" car; no way I'd let it go over 4k miles between changes(I use full synthetic oils btw).. usually around 2500-3500. Fuel needs to be premium at all times. Keep it well maintained and be prepared to.. and as most guys would say on here.. expect to change the brakes within the first 10-20k miles.. if the factory boost tubing doesn't have the clip to hold it in place, expect to replace that as well.. mine did have the clip and it was fine for 12k miles.. I replaced them with performance tubing cuz like most of us, we just simply want more lol.
The car itself is probably the best all-around bang for the buck out there, so it kinda depends on what you really want. Don't expect it to have the fit n finish of a Lexus or something, it is a Chevy after all lol..
Other than that, it sounds like you're in a good position to do whatever you want. You just gotta decide if you want to go deeper into debt, or start working on an older car that may or may not last and you just keep pouring the dough into it. It's kinda up to u and ur own personal situation/preferences. Play hardball with the dealer and get yourself a better deal so you don't take a bath and you'll be even happier... given the current economy situation, they'd probably be willing to go lower than they would've 2 years ago.. considerably. I've walked away from a couple of deals in the past.. they always throw a better one at you lol... even then, I've still walked away if it was just more than I was willing to pay. Know what you want or can afford, and stick to your guns.
Good luck man, and enjoy whatever you do in life.. it is short

So I go to the dealership after exchanging a few emails, I get there and the bastards don't even have the car. Wasted 3 hours of my life driving there and back and $4.80 in tolls. Then I check my local dealers, nothing. The search continues... Now just because of the fact they screwed me over I'm determined to find one. I'll only be lucky enough to find one with as little miles as that one... DISAPPOINTMENT.
^BOLD HIGHLIGHT = By far my favorite comment lmao. News on the Cobalt is I made a call to a Chevy dealer near Indy who's going to get it ready for me on Wednesday. Quite possibly financing it then and driving it home... we'll see how it goes.
How did this pass everyone???? Stock is a KO4...
First off, LNF's are equipped with K04 turbos, which is a larger and more capable turbo than a K03.
Secondly, neither turbo is a "VW turbo". Both are made by Borg Warner, which is not owned or operated by VW. Borg Warner is an independent company that supplies OEM manufacturers with parts as well as aftermarket retailers.

You're talking about 11.5" rotors with single piston calipers from a Malibu vs. 12.4" rotors with 4 piston Brembo aluminum calipers. Its a significant difference.

I think your gonna be 2 far flipped on the balt... 9 grand is a lot left on an 06. They may give you 6 grand if your lucky on trade in.. keep the ss/sc.. you should only have about a year and a half left to pay on it.. keep it then when your finished paying it off get something new.... im sure in the next 2 years they will still have the ss/tc... maybe even upgraded a lil bit. Keep the ss/sc ... unless your planning on putting a lot of money down... 5k or more

Going to see the TC tomorrow, possibly bringin' her home.
save your money, your 06 is low miles, reliable and can be modded to be quite quick. my old s/c actually was more enjoyable as it threw you back and gave you that throw you back in your seat feel, you feel fast even though an ss/tc is faster. I've owned both, I'd go with keeping your S/C and then in 2-3 years upgrading to a new car if you choose. the jump to an 08 LNF isn't worth it for the added cost unless you're out of college and making more than 40k/year without debt. seriously.
google KKK turbos...
The car's title and loan are both in the ex-stepfather's name. I pretty much feel like I'm paying off a car I don't even own even though he's been telling me we're going to "refinance" it in my name. He's been saying it for over 3 months now and nothing has been done. I'm 21 in college going on my third year, but I'd rather have a car that I know 100% will be mine.
