Projector Headlights

EBAY Black Projectors

I want projector headlights that eventually if I want to put HIDS in them I can. I hate the corny halo crap and the gay 3 light led stuff. Its a Cobalt not an Audi. I do want a black interior clean projector headlight assy. You guys think this would suit my needs? I see a lot of people saying to retrofit. I am not willing to do that. Any other places that make these clean and not all riced out? Also, try not to empty my pockets. Thanks guys

Theyre ok. I would put hids in them right away as its been reported that halogen bulbs cause the cheap lens to spider crack and fade fast. DDM has hid kits for around $50

I hate to have you do all my leg work. Seems as tho you have projectors and hid set up on your whip. Any way you could hook me up with links to the lens and hids your currently running. Thanks if you do.

Mine are retrofits. Since you said you didn't want them, here's a link to the 4th gens.
05-09 CHEVY COBALT BLACK PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS PAIR NEW - eBay (item 310288238469 end time Feb-13-11 17:23:54 PST)

if you decide to do retrofits, get these, the mini H1s. The beam pattern from them is a 100x better than the aftermarkets. They are completely plug and play and just screw in. The only difficulty is taking the headlights apart and resealing them. They don't come with halos normally, the ones pictures have them added on.

The DEPO gen4s (the ebay link) typically come with a pretty decent Philips halogen bulb, H7 sized.

By pretty decent, I mean I put in a Sylvania Ultra bulb in one of my lights, and I couldn't tell which was which.

YMMV.

Kinda funny when people say they want the best stuff, but are not willing to pay any more than they would for cheap stuff.

Listen bud. Did you supply any valuable info to this thread? I don't like cheap stuff, correct. I said watch my pocket. Never said I wouldn't be willing to pay more if it was necessary. It's called shopping around and being smart with your money. It's fair to assume quality parts cost more. The reason I asked on the biggest Brobalt forum for help is because they are probably aware of decently priced quality items. Thanks for your information buddy. It has really helped me on my quest to make my car as I envision it.

Lol, good luck w/the lights, I would go w/retro fits if you have the $ to do so if not the gen 4's will do fine. You can find some already equipped w/hid's & you can also request the color you would prefer , all I can say is shop around before you buy the first sale you come across.

I am kind of skeptical that it might be a fuss to keep gen 4's and hid maintained at working great all the time. How long have you had yours on? Should I order a spare set of hid bulbs and keep them home in case anything goes wrong

as long as you get a good quality set of hids you should not have the prolem of them burning out fast at all. i reccomend buying the gen 4's and buying a hid kit from buyhids.com. they have great quality products.

im not sure if buyhids has the gen 4's. look into it. mike is a great guy to deal with. customer service is awesome and the products are awesome.

no its like...even with the HID installed when are looking at the headlight at a certain angle the lenses themselves have a blue/purplish hue..another examples are BMW, audi, acura....I think it have to do with the focus or the cutoff of the lens or something. When I ugraded my s4 headlights to e-codes they had that look. If you look at it head on you see the HID color but at an angle it would look blue/purplish.

So if you was driving and look in the rearview mirror and you, lets say see a maxima thats going up over bumps and hills....you notice the headlight change color but it not the color of the headlight thats actually changing but the angle of the headlight themselves from the car going through a dip or speedbump which produce the color change. But if you look at it head on then headlight color would look normal. Thats the best i can explain it really =S

edit: Okay from doing a little reading I think it is a blue/purple spread at the end of the cut off of a projector

here is a link to explain what I mean: HID Projector Beam

No, very little if your lucky, and if one does it, guaranteed the other one won't. The quality control on these is bad and they don't really tightly control the bulb spacing and shield spacing. The only way you're gonna get that look is with retros.
This is stock on the mini H1s
