What do you need a dummy light for? Besides just having a light that turns on at a specified RPM's.

I'm guessing this is your first man. tranny car eh....

Seriously though... the flashing light gets really annoying really quick. Playing around with my interceptor I learned to hate the super bright LED's.

I've been driving manuals my whole life (and I'm old) and I think it's hard to see the tach in the daylight when you have your foot in it. You can't tell by sound either. I was thinking about a shift light as well. Why would it be annoying unless you're always flooring it or you run it at high revs constantly?

I didn't get the RPD because it didn't look all that appealing in the pics I saw initially. I regret that now.

+1. I've been driving a stick for 30 years, have owned over 30 vehicles, and I would like a shift light for the exact reasons you state. My bike has a shift light and so did my last car. With the no-lift-shift feature on this car I would have thought a shift light would be a no-brainer, especially since you have to be close to red line to use it.

You're an idiot.

If the light "blinks" too much for you, then maybe you shouldn't be wrapping out your damn gears while you're driving, or try putting the shift light at a higher rpm than 3k.

Personally, i'd love to get one, simply because i'm tired of a redline in a car that is so low that revs up pretty quick (compared to the mustangs i've owned).

Eeek, scary true story about airbags going off. I used to work for Progressive Insurance a long time ago. A Progressive employee was going to check the odometer on a totaled car and the airbags hadn't gone off. So he put the key in the ignition and THEN the airbags went off and it killed because his face was too close to the steering wheel. Apparently he only turned the key to accessory so it was just a fluke.

But back on topic, I looked at the Raptor site but I couldn't find a 'mini' size shift light. I want a shift light that's as small as possible. Possibly a remotely mounted programming point with just a single LED on the dash?

Ya the guy died. I don't know the exact mechanics of what killed him(i.e. broken neck or crushed skull or whatever) but it killed him. We had all sorts of warnings after that to sit in the seat prior to checking electronic odo's on totalled cars with front end damage when the airbags didn't go off. Especially on older cars that had the explosive airbags instead of the gas reaction airbags.

Going even MORE off topic. The even scarier memo's we got were on the 1st gen prius's. The current Prius's are ok, but the first gen had all there batteries packed low and in back. The batteries were acid batteries but they were supercorrosive-much more so then regular lead-acid car batteries. Apparently you needed a hazmat team if there was a leak and you weren't suppose to approach the car unless you were sure there was no leak.
