Recall?
Recall?
Hey, i just got off the phone with my dealership...they should have a silver T/C tomorrow or wed but they have 2 fully loaded black ones coming in like a month or so...but they are on hold because of a recall because of the engine....now i remember reading a post in this forum saying that somebody test drove one and it sputtered back to the dealership...so for warning it may take awhile for those who ordered one because of that recall....it has something to do with the engine/turbo not functioning properly....
but i will be test driving one soon and hopefully buying in august

I just put a deposit down on the SS/TC that is coming to my dealer here and there was no mention about any recall so I'd say it's BS. My purchase of the vehicle is pending a test drive so we'll see how it is.
idk if it s recall..but ive heard a fww times about there being a few problems with the the turbo not working properly with the engine and therefore causing GM to have a little bit of a hold on them to make sure their functioning right.
see...i'm noticing a trend here...most of the people saying it's BS are new to the site...the recall doesn't affect all 08 SS Cobalt's....just some...the two that are on order here right now are affected...i guess it would depend on the manufacture date or something....but they have been working their asses off here trying to get answers about it...this coming from our inventory manager.....they guy that orders the cars....
and just because you may "work for GM" doesn't mean you know everything about what is going on for GM.....
and because you put down a deposit for a car that you haven't gotten yet doesn't mean the recall hasn't affected it....that's one of the hang ups for the delivery date on the cobalt ss.....
i mean...doesn't make sense.....geesh....

which can be technically called a recall...though not on the market...once produced they don't have to leave the plant to be recalled for inspection and post manufacture tweaks...but it's a recall none the less...hence slow shipping of orders across the country affecting only certain manufacture dates....
there are no recalls for the ss/tc.
recalls only happen when a vehicle is released, and then theres found to be a problem. if they catch something at the plant and hold the release of the vehicle, thats not really a recall. technically.
theres nothing on SI about any problems with the ss/tc's.
yet.

"A new car built by my company
leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The
rear differential locks up. The car crashes
and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now:
should we initiate a recall? Take the number
of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the
probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the
average out-of-court settlement, C. A times
B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost
of a recall, we don't do one."

batch hold, recall....same thing different terminology....the issue here is the same thing....they are on hold because of a problem with the engine/turbo...that's what i'm getting at...now arguing over terminology...
.....yet they are released....and some of these are purchased.....or on order on the buyer's behalf....yet it's not a recall because it never hit a dealership....if ppl are driving them around the car is released...if they catch something at the factory after the car is released it's recalled...not all will be affected...but again the words batch hold come to play....same thing...different words....and why would GM put anything bad about their hot little new car on the service site...i mean it's brand new....think about it....eh i'm done

the cars go through quality control before they're even loaded on a truck. half of the recalls i've done at my dealership usually only effect cars in a that are within a vin break. most of them will say "only look for this condition on cars with the vin 45470001 through 46479990" something like that. just because a few cars havnt been shipped doesnt mean theresa failure with allthe cars.
