RPD Air-Fuel Readings

Does our RPD read A/f ratio thru the o2 sensor or somewhere else?
Just wondering if I should have not got the angled 02 bung on my downpipe or if it doesn't matter

Thanks.
Just for simple knowledge. At what point does it measure A/F?

That'd be your 1st o2 sensor. Not sure where its at on our cars, I havn't been under mine long enough to look.

On the LSJ, LE5, and L61 the 1st o2 sensor was on the exhaust manifold near the collector. But that was a narrowband sensor, and none of em had turbos

I thought we had an O2 on the turbo housing and a wideband O2 on the downpipe, just after the cat...

The cat check should be done comparing the two readings to my knowledge.

It takes measurements whenever your car is in "closed loop" mode, at which point it uses the O2 sensors to give it feedback on if it is rich or lean and it then compensates. The O2 sensors must be heated to up to 600 degrees F and the coolant must be above a certain temp before the car will enter closed loop mode. In open loop mode, the car utilizes a set of pre-fab tables in the ECU until it is able to run in closed loop mode.

I think you're both correct.

Ok cool. Sounds like I got it backwards.
