shifter squeak

this must have just happened but i noticed this morning if you listen closely you can hear a squeak when going into and out of 1st and 2nd gear only, no biggy but what can i do to get rid of it?

Funny. Mine just started doing it too. It actually squeaks in neutral as well when moving over toward first and second, but if I am in neutral moving toward fifth and reverse it doesn't. I found it odd, but I think it might have something to do with the cold.

took mine to the dealer last week for this. Tech basically sprayed liquid lubricant(similar to wd40) on the linkage below the cup holder and on the tranny and he gaffed me off. So yeah its actually gone since.

Do you have a STS or a factory shifter?

Pretty sure it's the cable... Mine does it when it's a tad bit colder cold but it especially does so when the shifter gets stuck at app. -10 and under (see threads).

spray some silicone(sp?) lubricant on it. Should be able to get it at the auto stork

i brought mine in, mine does it in nuteral, they gave me a hole new shifter :-)

update: the squeak went away.. so w/e, i think it was just bc it was a rly cold day.

^and i do not have a sts
