Soooo pissed....so only certain dealerships can mess with the GMS1? Local has no clue
Soooo pissed....so only certain dealerships can mess with the GMS1? Local has no clue
So I go back and forth with my local dealer. They tell me there is an aftermarket MAP on my car...bla bla bla...
They have no f'n clue how to work on my car now.
So I have to drive 2 hours to where it was installed!
BULLSHIT!
Its been acting stupid for a month, it was at the dealer 2 weeks ago and I detailed what it was doing: hesitation, surging, boosting all crazy, loss of MPG, etc.....they cant "replicate the symptoms" on a drive and it was throwing no code so they give it back.....of course, I feel it doing it right away.
Finally, it throws a code and I am all excited that they can now read WTF is wrong. Of course, i have it read before dropping it off so i know and I can write it on the paperwork.
Forward to today. Just got the call.
"hey guy, is this an aftermarket setup on here"
no, its a stock car with the GMS1, THAT YOU SELL THE PARTS FOR!!! WOULD YOU LIKE THE ITEM NUMBER?
um, no, i have never seen this before, its not reading a code now but the memory had a #106 MAP code thrown but I have nobody trained to work on this kit, yer gona have to take it to who did it.
so let me get this right. this is a GM authorized and warranted kit, that you WONT work on?
sorry sir, we just don't know how.
**** ME I AM SOOOOOOO LIVID.................

the installers are 2 hours away...................god damn i am so annoyed.
I should have know the first time when they didn't even attempt to check the MAP given the symptoms and told me then they couldnt work on it.
So I wasted my f'd day letting them have it when i could have drove it to the installer since I am off work and stcuk home till my wife gets off.............grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Just frustrating that they somehow operate and sell these vehicles.
Plus he could have checked the darn MAP before (it was my guess and im no mechanic)
i wouldn't have brought it back had he told me then.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
so tomorrow im driving down to rockenbach in grayslake at 7am....they got me in.
they installed it and took great care of me and im sure will again.
but damn, its a 80 minute drive at 7am.
coffee anyone?
very very scary...........why has rockenbach taken the initiative to be a specialist at it when all others remain dumbfounded about a car THEY SELL?

It's a ******* sensor, how hard can it be? Diagnose the problem, it's a car, they all run the same way, and if it's a problem with the kit installation, get GM on the phone if you're too retarded to handle it...and dealerships wonder why customers become irritated and go elsewhere.
At the very least I would log a call with GM customer service against the dealership letting them know how incompetent their service department is..I guarantee they will not be happy.

Make sure you've called GM Customer service first though so you can tell them, I've filed a complaint, and btw, here's the information from GM on my "aftermarket" custom kit.
I can't find a facepalm image large enough. I don't expect everyone to know the kit exists, but I do expect people to listen at the dealerships when you clearly know more about the vehicle than they do. If you want to be a *****, print this off and take it in:

LOL Rockenbach is a bunch of morons. That is where I got mine. Anyway, I believe CED went there after Latoff closed??? That would explain why they have taken initiative to be a specialist IMO. If Latoff Chevy was still around Im sure they would be the specialist, and 45minutes closer too. Rockenbach is 45minutes from me. Latoff was only 5 minutes from me, lol. Oh well.
brand new freakin car under warranty and no one can figure out a sensor
I'd pay to be a fly on the wall when they review it and realise they have egg on their face. In general I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt but on the other hand I'll only argue for so long before I lose my patience. If I were in your situation I would be doing the same it's just unforunate you have to drive 2 hours out of your way with a gimped car because they refuse to listen.
As for your problem my guess is the MAP itself is hosed (a friend of mine recently had his GMS1 MAP **** the bed) or the spliced wires aren't making a proper connection, but here's an interesting read on P0106 if you're bored

Sounds eerily similar to your symptoms does it not

?that is EXACTLY what she is doin!
Figured it would be. Out of curiosity were your sensors put in using the crimps or soldered/heatshrunk (is that a word?)? I'm leaning more towards the sensor since it's consistent but I'm just curious
.
.
I do not wana go back for this.
and i am at 30k so i dont have much warranty time left

also, its worse with the air cond on

I'm guessing it's worse due to the power loss associated with running the compressor and the motor is already struggling as it is. As for the sensors if they are crimped yes I would request they be soldered individually (MAP and TMAP) particuarly if the sensor needs to be replaced. After that heatshrink and a solid wrap of electrical tape, and if available the plastic shrouding to stop rubbing (which I still need to put on mine but I'm being lazy). It's a safeguard if nothing else. The tech looked at the crimps and said "I think not, I'm gonna solder them in place".
So far mine and the 4 or 5 others the dealer has done (as a result of me recommending them after the awesome job the tech, fresh out of school nonetheless, did on mine) are holding solid *knock on wood* and mine went through the winter last year with a fair amount of "rally inspired driving" on my ridiculous snow tires and extreme hot/cold cycles which is as good a test as any I'm thinkin'
.
Hopefully they get everything taken care of for you

Those lazy *****.......... seriously all they have to do is call the TECH line that is available to any dealer . If they cant be bothered to do that then they shouldn't be in business .
It really pisses me off because the dealer i did all the IT work for bent over backwards for people and would spend hours on the phone to make someone happy. But they got the axe because the dealership wasn't a superstore...... It was a good old home town dealer where everyone knew everyone and had been here over 60 years .
Hell they let me do my own updates and let me keep their tech 2 over a long week end to figure out the misfire i had in my LSJ. They even warrantied a cover Venom drilled a hole in for a turbo's oil return line on an lsj lol........... Seeing **** like this really get me going .... sorry for the rant .
