Spare tire 08-09 with Brembos
Has anyone tried to see if it will fit with a flat front tire, if not you would have to swap a good rear to the front and put spare to the rear.

when we went on the tour of the lordstown plant. i asked this and was told that you have to take a good tire of the back and put it up front and put the spare on the back.

It definately will not fit on the front it is a 16" steel wheel. In the owner manual it states that on ss models it will not fit over the brakes. I would not trust the shitty stock jack to lift the whole side of the the car. I took my spare out I have a small compressor and a tire plug kit. If I need more than that I have free towing for the next 6 years anway.

TRUE TRUE^^
As Per the Manual your suppose to pull off a rear tire and put that on the front if its a FRONT flat, and mount the spare on the rear.......it explains it as "SS" specific...obvioulsy

I also think the spare is slightly smaller in diameter, so if you could fit it on the front and had LSD, would could end up smoking the LSD. This is true for any car with LSD front or rear wheel drive. Spares should never go on the drive wheels.

the answer is plain and simple, the spare tire will NOT, i repeat, it will NOT!!! fit over the brembos, safely or properly........it will ONLY fit the rear and hell that seemed useless to me to have a spare that only fit 2 corners so i got the sealant kit and pump instead.

The guy you quoted was correct when it comes to any of the Cobalts with the G85 (read: almost all). A limited slip differential reads the different rotation speeds as slip and constantly engages itself, so you CANNOT have different diameter wheels up front.
...Well, unless you want to cook your LSD

The spare not clearing the brake caliper is the immediate problem, but even if we didn't have the Brembos you STILL wouldn't be able to mount the spare up front.

So your front tire hits a nail, its flat. Now the spare won't fit the front, so u lift up one side of the vehicle with your shitty car jack. u put the rear tire on the front and the spare on the rear. If u ever had to use a stock car jack u will see this as the route to go
To be more specific, loosen the lugs on the front and rear tires before lifting up that side of the vehicle (so both tires are in the air)

use a lil more sense and jack up the rear put the spare on there then jack the front up and put the back tire on. yes it takes a lil more work cuz you have to jack it up twice but its way safer. i'd rather sweet a lil than to have my car fall off the jacks and most likely mess up the rotors, get hurt or mess up the rocker panels on the car.. or you could do like i do and keep two jacks in the car for that just in case time. now all that bein said i dont have a tc or sc for that matter but i keep two jacks in the car with me.

I don't know the rating on the jack but our cars come in at about 3000lbs. my stock jack outta my jeep rubicon which weighed right at 4000lbs had no problem lifting up half my jeep, so im pretty confident if you remove 1000lbs, it will be alright, but than again someones gonna say how shitty these jacks are so who knows. just remove your jack and spare for weight reduction and if u ever get a flat call a tow truck, problem solved

Now on the Cobalt, I'd DEFINITELY not recommend jacking up one side at once with the stock jack; I doubt it's strong enough to both a) hold up the entire side of the car and b) deal with the "sideways" forces inflicted when you try to balance it. These cars don't have 50/50 weight distribution, so it's very hard to judge.
It would be easily possible with a floor jack, but for your own sake and your car's sake, jack up one corner at a time with the one in the trunk.
