Sparkage!!!!!

Hey guys...So i may have an issue here. I was driving down the highway with some buddies today and was kinda messing around racing..nothin major...just like 50-75. small pulls. Well i was in one lane and was pulling ahead of my friend and i let off the throttle and coast for a bit. well i get to a stop sign and my friend said that after letting off the throttle (and gently applying my breaks) he noticed some high amount of sparks shooting out of my exhaust. He said they werent flames..but sparks...like from a grinder. for about 5 seconds. What gives??? when doing that pull i didn't shift...it was just a same gear pull. I can cannot contest to seeing these sparks..but if they came out of my exhuast the only thing i could think of would be my stock muffler coming apart? But to me..i would say it was my brakes..cuz the sparks started when i applied my breaks..and one of my rotors started getting slotted. but he swore they came from my exhaust.

Any ideas???

Sounds like you're chewing up the inner driver's side rear brake pad.

I would guess it the rear brake but it could also be the catalytic converter is starting to spit the core out .

i remember some guy with meth injection and a destroyed cat was throwing sparks...and i just throw sparks cuz my subframe is like a set of ski's on my car. but since you're catless it's hard to tell. let's do this, take a look at your rear brake pads/rotors. there was a TSB on ss models equipped with brembo's, the rear brake pads were found to have chunks of metallic material in them causing a lot of weird issues. once you have that cancelled out, we can narrow it down from the turbo up

Yes, you can toast a cat on a new car. I fried mine at only 20,000km.

Well i have a catless downpipe...so that cant be it. So is the general consensus saying brakes??? it couldn't really be anything internal engine or turbo wise could it?
