Question SS tc seat questions

wonder if anyone knows if we can swap out the driver seat bottom for the passanger one. i mean just the seat i understand that the hardware and plastic sides are different. my issue is that the driver seat bottom is showing obvious wear after 40,000 miles and just wonder if i could swap them because the less used passenger seat still looks brand new.

It's a LOT of work to just separate out the cushions. I honestly don't know if the cushion can be completely separated or not. I've had my seats taken quite far apart and there were some parts that I'm not sure can be separated.

I wish gm would have put some extra stitching in there to help with the wear

yea that would be nice but this seems to be a common thing for GM (skimping certain quality aspects) because look how long it took them to put better seats in the corvette!

That fake suede stuff they use wears down quick, it happens on pretty much any car with seat material like that. It's just not a durable fabric. If the fibers had been a little bit longer it would probably last longer.

You can try to use Alcantar cleaner on it and see if that helps. The fibers just get mashed down and slick. If you clean them with the right cleaner, they puff up again.

^^ I was going to reply with this.

the suede is actually "ultralux" ~ an engineered material that looks/feels like suede.
I use upholstery cleaner;
spray it on
use a clean dry cloth to soak up, the cleaner, and lightly rub it around...

you might be surprised with how well it works.
