SS/TC vs SRT8 Jeep

A guy locally has a SRT 8 Jeep he wants to race my cobalt in. They say its fast but I'm curious as to how. Its AWD so I got a feeling he may get me on the holeshot but what do you guys think about a 40 roll? Can I pull it off? Mods are K and N SRI, Trifecta and a catless downpipe. Thanks

Yes you can. AWD doesn't mean squat.

It's all about how YOU can drive. You could have the fastest 1000 WHP Car, and still run the crappiest time.

Driver Mod FTW!

I've got torque management now. I can only pull 7psi in 1st. I want the full 23psi.

It won't matter. I'm running 18 PSI and i don't get traction in first, so you sure as hell wont. No one on this forum gets traction in first. 1st is such a short gear you wont even notice.

Should beat him from a roll. You don't want full boost in 1st since you would just spin.

First is actually fairly long I dont' have enough power to pull it out. It seems like forever plus I think because its such a big jump from 7psi in 1st to 23psi in 2nd its taking out a lot of time. I feel so helpless going from 1st to 2nd.

This But seriously, if he is stock, you should have no issues taking him from a 40 roll.

Are you the same dude asking how to get traction. Asking how you get boost reduction taken off. Wow, just WOW. First gear is not long, your turbo does not have lag, WOW.

It doesn't have enough power to spin in 1st. When your pulling 7psi in 1st gear and then you hit 2nd it pulls up to 23 so fast your blowing the tires off before you know it. If the power transfer was a little smoother between gears it would be easier to deal with the spinning. And slow rolls are pointless. Anybody whose tried to race there car from a 10-20 mph roll can't tell me they don't feel like an idiot when it take 6 monthes to get to 2nd gear and the other car is 2 cars ahead and you have to play catch up. A friend of mine has a mild bolt on GT mustang and anywhere from 35 up I can rape him but from a slow roll he molests me and I run him down at about 80ish. I wouldn't say I need the full 23 in 1st but it does need somewhere in the range of 12 to 15 because this bitch is slow down low.

Well um, I don't know how to quite explain this, but there is this thing called peddling the gas, mind blowing right?

Specs are very respectable on the SRT8 Jeep, especially the new one. I know they clock sub 5 0 to 60, and quarter mile times are in the mid to low 13's depending on driver mod. That makes it a fair race even from a 40 roll. They're limited aerodynamically, so I'd expect a bolted car to start catching them past 80 mph. For their size, they're pretty beastly at handling too. A good driver can make these utes a surprising challenge.

I know I can match them in my fourth-gen. I'd be a little nervous that I'd lose due to driver mod in my 'balt!

Ummm you do drive a cobalt right? SS? Turbo? I have even experimented with starting in second cuz first gear is so worthless in these things. Doesn't work too well by the way.

If he wants to race, tell him you want a roll and tell him you will give him a dig race too. Just make sure you are in an area in Mexico where it is straight for long enough to get to 140mph... cuz from the dig it will probably take you that long to catch him depending on how you and he both launch.

I'm a litle confused as to how a driver mod matters with an automatic... I'll assume you mean launch so I'll give it to you.

I ran one from a roll... Didn't know at the time but it was a built block and running nitrous. Needless to say I never. Aught up to it and I saw that it runs 10s.

Drive a Jeep with a hemi once or twice - you'll find out why driver mod, even with automatic! Agreed with the dig, my bet, though is that he'll quit and claim victory well before that 140!

from a dig you'll have a hard time.. from a 40 roll... you can probably take him if he doesn't back out as soon as you start pulling..
