And go drive it like it's meant to be driven.

well theres two ways I guess. the Fri/Sat driving or the Sunday race which is competitive. Maybe the info I had was for Sundays race. I looked into it before the year started so I could run joliet IL and it was huge fees, maybe they changed it before the season started though. And like I said maybe I was looking in the sunday racing.
You doing the fri/sat race?
you still need a $75 RTA drivers license though. Unless they include that in your 250 fee.

I'm on NT01, which are picky as hell. If you drive hard on them, you need to have about 40psi hot, and at least -2.5 camber. I only had -2.0 and they aren't wearing properly, and want to roll the hell over at anything under 40.
Kyle4236, which event are you going to? I used to race w/ NASA, but I just started instructing for Trackdaze. I haven't been to Summit in some time.

see RTA takes opinions on their forum, so i was on there and we were posting for the 2010 season and they posted some "beta" rules and it was expensive as ****, but that could of been for the sunday racing which is REAL competitive, aka that 2 wing ricer scion, tarzan etc. fri and saturday racing looks more relaxed and for normal drivers.

This weekend I gave my rims some attention, I painted them black with an engine paint that has some ceramic bead content like the factory rim paint it requires some heat cycling to cure properly, it was a chance to fix the dings, missing paint, the rashes and the fact the lips don't look so good after seven tire changes. I had bought NT01s but decided not to mount them, instead another set of KDWs went on, I have heard so much about the lack of sidewall reinforcement I am not ready yet to change my driving style. I have alot of confidence in cornering now, I'll wait until winter when the season is over.
Also for your front pads...COBALT XR1s period. hawk hps rears are ok ebc is absolute junk and crumbles with the heat, which caused a black flag for me. Don't bother with hawk in the front. I hope this helps. I bring one extra set of front pads, extra coolant, one quart of DOT 5 synthetic brake fluid, and a hand pump bleeder I got from mac tools.
Some tracks will require you to use specific brake fluid some won't. Some tracks require instructors to certify your run before letting you out there solo. Some tracks have what I refer to as safety break out times, where if your faster than x:xx.x you are required to have the next tier up in safety equipment which can include neck brace and helmet, fire extinguisher of the purple k type, a crossbar installed in your car, sometimes a certified 4 point or even 5 point harness, they may require you to run water only instead of coolant. Our cars a fully capable of running a track time as quick or faster than a M3 or modified Miata, so be prepared to be told you will need more safety equipment.
Another thing I need to stress to you guys. Absolutely no offense to BYT or Vince or Term, you guys rock, seriously. But if you think you can get away with a semi aggressive tune on a track and it won't cause major engine problems, you will learn a hard lesson.
I personally recommend nothing greater than a SCT, GMS1 or a milder tune without so much timing from BYT as well as 93/100 in a fifty fifty mix or you will see knock and incredibly high EGTs. Use the factory intake only, unless it has been tuned professionally by the above for road racing, you should stay with the original. DO NOT USE AN OILED FILTER. Your engine will suck in four or five times as much air in the same distance traveled as you normally would, these filters do not capture as much particulate matter as traditional dry filters do.
