Suggestions for tires for a tuned SS/TC??

Hello, I recently bought my 09 SS/TC and got it tuned by HPTuners. My tires are wearing down and they dont hold the torqe very well and start to spin in any gear around 4k rpm. Looking to spend maybe $160 range. Please help with any ideas. Thanks!!

you just looking for a sticky tire or do you need something to handle in bad weather as well?

Direzza DZ101 Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct $147/ea
Nitto 555 Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct $151/ea
Nitto NT05 Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct $162/ea
S Drive Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct $174/ea
KDW Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct $183/ea

Check back like once a week for deals/rebates. I just ordered Nitto 555's and got $100 visa gift card back. No tax/shipping is nice also. No street tire is going to get rid of the spin but at least they will claw their way forward while spinning

Hankook RS3's!!! If you have an application for your car. Hands down the best street tire that is a kun.t hair below a R-compound.

BF Goodrich G-force are good for spirited driving. Continental DW/DWS offers amazing performance with a stock feel that will grip well in the rain or snow. They have great tread life and are quite.

See if you can pony up a bit more cash and get some Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Potenza RE-11s. Super Sports are the peak of street tire performance and they have a mileage warranty, lasting longer than the tires linked so you'll equal out the money in the end. Just don't be a ricer and do full on burnouts with them.

Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS / RE970AS Pole Position

Great grip all year, better grip in the summer than summer tires, doesn't roll over on the bead in hard turns, all season, longer tread life, and great in rain. I love them and friends that have tried them have too and bought sets of their own. They came from KDWs and I came from the Nitto NT05 and we both think this tire is better than the ones we came from. This tire was the one I was on when I began getting better than 1g lateral consistently in the twisties.

The RE960 has recently been retired and the RE970 has replaced it. It's the same tire, with a few minor improvements.

Be careful about getting a track or track-ish tire that'll never have the grip that's advertised, because you'll never warm them up enough in DD.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Ill have to look into all of those. All year tires are great, i just need some that wont spin as much. Didn't think the torqe added would spin them like that haha. Thanks again!

Agreed, those michelins pilot supersports are sticky and handle like theyre on rails! plus if you have unwanted stones in your driveway it will pick those right up and relocate them lol. I just got the Continental extreme contact DWS tires with the mentioned $100 visa and they seem to grip better than my stockers ever did and i tear right through the rain.. yet to test snow but it can only be better! $154 a tire shipped from discount tire direct

I've got a Michelins and like them. A little pricey but they stick good in all weather and I've got about 20k miles with lots of life left still.

I was looking into those a couple years ago, but went NT05 instead. Glad to hear they worked out well for you. They seemed a bit too track oriented for me, but it sounds like they don't have the cool tire temp grip issues that my NT05s had.

how the hell did you get 55's to fit with-out rubbing their insides? I've tried before but couldn't get any bigger than a 235 on the stock rims and they would also rub the inside of the well.

Dont think I've seen them mentioned yet, friend of mine had RE-11s and they performed well, but for the price on the damned things at the time they should have. I stayed away from them for the price alone, I've been happy with my KDWs thus far, I'll see what I go with next time. 09BlueBaltSS has a decent list of recommendations.

How about the Nitto NT555s? They stick well? Their $141 a tire which isn't bad, the Pirelli PZero's are $170 ea which is my next choice. Gotta keep the $150-$170 range . I wish i worked full time but i got school as well lol.

Star specs have been getting better reviews and take less time to heat up/better in cooler weather.
