Does anyone know if the superchips flashpaq is worth the money, for the performance upgrades that it gives you?

sadly I have been told this tune is weak, low boost, the GMS1 would be betterOriginally Posted by bcbuckner

The superchips tune is as good if not a little better than stage 1 . People have gone 13.2@108 with it and dynoed 280 whp and 310 wtq. I used to run it and it was fine .... and safe . I went 13.4@107 and know it had more in it .... I only have made 5 passes with the car total with that tune.
Thanks pal, I will keep that in mind. I didn't want to spend that kind of money for so little return.

There are better options for the money.

ya if you have a tuner near you or work with someone via data logging and email you could get a better roi from hpt or trifecta.

Agreed ...... superchips is a good option for someone who 1) doesn't have a laptop and doesn't want to have to wait for the GT tuner to arrive in the mail before they can flash it back to stock.....2) has no real lnf tuner within 3-400 miles ...... 3) doesn't want to pay 6-700 dollars for the stage kit plus install for the same power the 300 superchips tune produces. When i bought my Superchips Cortex used for 250 bucks..... GM was a whole summer away from the stage kit being released . At that time i wanted something i could flash back to stock ..........then install the stage kit when it was released and recoup some of my money selling the tuner .
The problem was the superchips tune more than impressed me and looking at quarter mile times .... it is usually faster than GM stage one.... without the install issues some have had . Another plus was the superchips tune pass the CVN i check i did on it when i flashed it back to stock and hooked up my dealers tech2 ( good friend was the service manager and knew what i was doing the whole time) .
So if you want something that you can flash on and off the car within 5 minutes ...... and don't have many option's for a custom tune from a RESPECTED LNF tuner ...... and don't have a laptop for a datalogged Trifecta tune....... then a superchips flashpaq or cortex is a great option ..... especially if you can find a used one for 2-250.
I've bought 2 of them .... sold one to a friend cause I didn't think i would miss the gauge cluster that is programed into it . It's can be basically used just like a dashhawk after you flash the tune on ....keep it plugged in and you can watch 4 pid's at once ..... I have it stuck between my tach and speedo . It can actually data log a 1 minute snapshot then be hooked to your pc and look at the log of the run . Plus it reads and clears codes too.
Not bad for what it is. Oh i forgot .... I only paid 150 for the 2nd cortex i bought .....so there are good deals out there on them . I let a diesel guy borrow the tune and kept the cortex in my car as a gauge to monitor my AFR , IAT , Timing and LT fuel trims on my trifecta tune.
Sorry for the essay .... I just think the Cortex is a good little tool that could have been great if Superchips would have went a little more aggressive with the tune and opened up a few more options...... they would have sold a ton of them if it had made 300 whp and 340 wtq.

Any idea why for the hhr ss (manual) the superchips tune makes 60hp and 79tq ??? Thought they were the same engine?Originally Posted by rukkee

Ive been using the sc tune for 5 months and it's a decent tune for $140 what I payed and like posted above useful for data logging and breaks the tires loose with ease in 2nd has a lot of diagnostics and is a safe tune if your worried about buying a new clutch with a more aggressive tune. I like the 4 block display for IATS digital speed tach never had a running rich issue some say.

If a person wants to buy a superchips tuner and does not want a used one. Where is the bast place to buy one. Also it sounds like there are two different ones, which one is better and what is the difference between them.

anybody know why the hhr ss manual transmission superchips tune is more aggressive than the cobalt ss tune ?

The flashpaq is for GM gas engines only and doesn't include the powertrain warranty from superchips.......which I doubt they would honor anyway. The Cortex does all gas and diesel GM cars and trucks which really helps if you decide to sell it down the road ......larger customer base . Originally Posted by zbzo6

The HHR SS they dynoed had really low baseline numbers before they flashed it ...... so the gains are exaggerated because it was a dog stock ..... but in their eyes gains are gains so it helps market the tuner lol. In reality the gains are pretty much on par with a cobaltOriginally Posted by tmscarrillo

Just curious....i bought my flashpaq off of ebay and i ordered a bad mab catless dp for my manual hhr ss i wanna know if these tuners remove the learndown feature from GM.

On top of that i have a KNN Drop in filter....would just like to know if these mods will put me around 300 hp or more....what do you guys think?
pretty sure it does. and the most anyone really put down on a dyno whp was around 280 they say its not really mod friendly and best used with stock components. but im sure a catless dp and dropin muffler delete will get you around 280-290 if your in cooler temps.
still gota get mine dynoed
