Lubed up the sway bars today, and it didn't stop.

Must be the shocks/struts in some way.. be it normal or the bumpstop mentioned in the TSB.

my HHR SS has the same problem

I know its not tire rub because I went to the parking lot and did some full lock-to-lock circles. Also when the car is stationary and I try to bounce the front it can't make it do it...

2.) Do these cars have urethane bushing from the factory?

I ask #2 because it sounds like my MR2 when I put an Energy master kit on it and didn't use enough silicone grease on the bushings where they met the sway bars. Only seems to do it when the temp is < 30oF out.
some of us HHR SS owners have the same problem as you describe. you can hear it more pronounced if you go over a speed bump slowly when it is cold outside, of course you hear it much faster when you are driving at normal speeds. it was determined that the sway bar bushings need replacement, as many on our forum have done and thus eliminated the "noise or squeaks" from the front end. another member has found bushings from an aftermarket company that work and has had good success with them. although mine does make the noise, I have not had a chance to go to the dealer to get it corrected. hope this helps you guys in getting your concerns corrected.....

If bushings are the problem in the Cobalt SS/TC and an aftermarket vendor offered another bushing that solved the problem, I'd be more than willing to rake out the cash to get them! Is the HHR SS running on the same suspension setup as the Cobalt or is the frame (therefore suspension) different? I guess what I mean is, are the bushings for the HHR SS the same as the SS/TC Cobalt?

to answer your question.....I don't know, other than both vehicles are built on the same platform. I will try to find out from that member or get the vendor info and post it here or will send you a PM. I would imagine that most of the suspension pieces are the same, but I don't know for sure......

I just had problems number 2, 3 and 6 done under warranty, both my front struts were leaking causing #2, 1 swaybar link was shot and both of my front lower control arm bushings were separated. Mileage is 37,000KM. Car feels entirely different now and is FAR quieter hahaha

mine sounds like its coming from the back. because i put 2 passengers in the back and it made it worse every time i took a turn it would make a annoying sound or if i hit a bump. seems to go away when it hits in 50's or 60's.

45 and below is when mine starts, and it gets really loud in the 30's and below. Last week it kinda snapped back cold a little bit and it was doing it again. At this point I'm going to ignore it and when I'm driving my summer car check into the TSB items myself. Any free time I've had to visit the dealer its either stopped or gotten warm and won't do it.

I'm sure some people think we're whiners, but the more I think about it... the more this pisses me off I realize its "just a Cobalt" but I mean ****, my wife's 15 year old Corolla we just got rid of had nary a squeak or rattle. I'm no millionaire and a 25k car is no where near "cheap" to me.

Anyway I'll stop my 5 beer rant.
