I had this black bitch tailgating me in my 1992 Plymouth Voyager minivan. I slammed on those damn brakes so hard, she went off the road into a patch of grass! That **** was priceless!

It's happened once or twice. I normally slow down to exactly the speed limit and then box them in when they try to pass. Saves gas/brake pads, lol.

I just slow down to about 15 mph until they pass me and flip me off.

One time I had a megaphone in my car and yelled some ****. They backed off big time.

I ALWAYS carry a megaphone in my car. It has a siren on it and the ice cream man song. Living in NY, it comes in handy on pretty much a daily basis.

I seen this thread and this exact same **** just happened to me last night on the freeway..

Me and my girl were coming back from a movie and i was droppin her off. We were still on a local freeway, i was goin a lil fast 70-75 but normally ppl go that fast if not faster on the highway i was on (crazy i know). Anyway a silverado came up behind me (i could tell from the headlights) so i slowed down a bit, then it came along side me like it wanted to race or something, i ignored him for a bit then blew his doors off.

A little farther down the road there was a bit of construction and all so i speed up and got around some cars to really lose him but then he comes flyin up behind me tailgating me almost the whole way to my g/f's house and just when i thought i lost him goin through the neighborhood..i went to my g/f's house and parked and yadayada a minute later the mother ****** comes flyin around the corner tires screeching and speeds past us reving.

******* lunatics i swear

LOL - must not have been a duramax.. (see my friends dyno vid here, 400 HP and 700TQ.)
If that was a duramax, he must not have wanted to race

Anyway, Ive made one person spin out that was tailgating me - they slammed on their brakes while trying to go around me. They came to a stop without hitting anything.

The other time I actually made a tailgater hit me. He tailgated me so closely I couldn't see his hood, so I brake checked him (locked all 4 wheels, then speed up right before he hits). He decided to get closer, so I hit my brakes as hard as I could and held it - he slammed right into the back of me. However I couldn't come up with a good story for why there were two sets of 60' skid marks on the highway that came from my car... So I received a ticket for Aggressive Driving. In NC, Aggressive driving is a criminal charge that faces jailtime, huge fines, license revocation, etc - it is a class 1 misdemeanor (rated up there with a DUI). BTW - his insurance and my insurance would not pay for the damages, since we were both ticketed. His car probably had 3k in damage - mine had over 1k.

Bottom line - don't get caught brake checking someone.. Not to mention if you make them crash that way, and someone gets killed - you are responsible for manslaughter. Keep that in mind next time someone is being a moron by tailgating. (what if they lose control and go into oncoming traffic?)

Yep but those trucks weigh about 7000lbs plus too. Has he taken it to the track? My neighbor is running low 11's with his dodge cummins he's right around 800hp.

I used to get really pissed.... now I just take my foot off the gas and let the car slow down and down and down until they curse, finger and pass
then I might do a blow by at 2x the speed, if i'm in the mood

The only time I tailgate, is if they pull out in front of me & they aren't going the speed limit, or if they are going 5 under the speed limit (trucks with cargo excluded)...

Yeah it's good not to let your driving get heavily affected... but you still want to try to prevent an accident... and slowing down gradually will usually do that I think.

Maybe they are just trying to read the little writing on the back that says turbocharged. I can never tell if the Cobalt's are the supercharged or the newer turbos, without looking closely. Of course, I don't tail gate.

Had a guy do this to me 3 days ago.
I was doing 55km, when he came up my ass I dropped down to 20km. I stayed that speed for a good 4 blocks, and every time he tried to pass me I would move into the other lane.

Guy was stuck behind me forever. After the 4 blocks I went back up to the speed limit, and he kept his distance.

You're all idiots for screwing with people like that. Go the speed limit and let them pass you. If you need to stop, they'll rearend you. Simple as that.

Yeah I don't even **** with people on the road anymore. Ive known a couple people that weren't letting a tailgater pass and they had a gun pulled on them when they went by. Sure they should of had gotten the peoples plates down and taken legal action and blah blah blah. But its not worth it to **** with someone on the road. Just let them by when you get the chance.

When I was a bit younger about 10 years ago, I used to let tailgaters bother me. I have 2 confirmed cases where the moron behind me lost control and ended up in the grass due to a brake check from my 20 year old car. Lots of close calls too. I thought that I would teach them all a lesson one moron at a time.

When I got older I realized that these people are not going away, but in fact they did mostly! I think it's all attitude. When you slow down or brake check somebody who is in enough of tizzy to tailgate you, it's like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Driving really brings animal instincts out of people. I pretty much always do between 5-7 MPH above the speed limit (more or less depending) and these days I have found more often than not that I am much more likely to be the tailgater than the tailgated! I don't know how it is in the rest of America, but here it seems like the number of people doing 10-15 MPH UNDER the speed limit has increased drasticly in the past year. For example when the limit goes from 45 to 55 it's like they don't see the 55 sign or something! Crazy stuff. I have no problem doing just the speed limit, but when another driver is forcing me to do significantly less does tick me off. I just ignore tailgaters especially when the slowness is not my fault!

The dump trucks spewing rocks are another biggie 'round these parts- the limit is 55 and they are doing 40, so you can hardly get far enough behind them not to get showered, and you've got no choice but to pass them and risk getting showered more. I won't start a rant.
