take catless DP off before dealership?

Going into the dealership for the ig ition recall. I only have intake and exhaust on my car. They are also going to check out a clunk in the front end for me too. Think i should pit the stock DP on?

From what ive noticed, they dont care bout mods.

Good to hear. My buddy took his sstc into the same dealership with full bolt ons to get his tranny replaced and they didn't say anything to him. And I'm going to the same dealership has him.

They don't care. It has nothing to do with your problem unless its loose like the other guy said. They also have better things to do than snoop around your car for free and not work on someone else's who is paying.

Question is.. do they document those type of things? Say something engine/or transmission goes bad later and you bring it in bone stock. Anyone have any issues with such?

(I know Warner blew his motor, went all stock expect downpipe and.. they blamed it on downpipe.)

damn,i never found out what happend with his car. thats crazy though!! a DP is the cause of blowing a motor?!

the dealership i go to is pretty legit (surprisingly) my buddy went in there with a blown tranny in his SS/TC. he had a charge pipe, downpipe, cat back, intake and a ported intake mani painted black and a tune. didnt say a word and was replaced under warranty.

Lol yeah doesn't make any sense, it helps the Turbo.. They really shafted him. Well sounds like they may not keep a record of sorts, good to know.

For a recall they won't and can't bust your ***** about mods. Warranty work on the ther hand, they can. It really just depends on the dealer.

I went in for warranty work for a clunking noise coming from the front end. Long and short of it, they denied me the warranty work for 2 reasons.... my catless dp and my tranny mounts.

I went to another dealer that was quite a bit further away and they gave me NO issues what-so ever for any of my mods. The issue ended up being a bad steering column which after parts in labor was a $1200 job out of pocket.

As long as you're sure that the dealer doesn't care that you have mods on the car, then you will be fine. If they do care, then that's a completely different story obviously.

Easier to put the stock DP on than chance it. It only takes 30 minutes and a gasket.

Why would they give a flying **** if you have a downpipe or not? Doubt they'd even notice.

You may be out of b-to-b warranty, but if they flag your DP, you will have issues with drive-train complaint later on down the road, on your 100K drive-train warranty. Say you have an early '09 car, which are a little infamous for porous (cracked) block issues and you take your car in for the loss of coolant with the factory DP on there. They look back at your record and see that you had this aftermarket DP on there and they say, "Oh, your cracked block is due to this aftermarket DP you had on there. Our professional mechanic said so, and that's all we need to deny the claim. Have a nice day. Oh yeah, we already took your car apart, so that will be $1600 in labor."

I am a tech at a Chevy dealer, they probably wont say anything unless it has something to do with the problem or close to. Other than that as myself I dont have to worry cause I do my own work but I would not risk it.

And to everyone on here that thinks they don't inspect you're car, you are completely wrong, (at least in my case/dealership as I can not speak for others). How we make money is looking at you're car to make sure its safe and road worthy.

Now we're talking! Don't beat up the nuts too much. They look for that, too.

If a mechanic claims that a downpipe caused any sort of problem, I'd start going to see a new mechanic. They obviously don't know ****.
