I had to deliver some parts to a testing facility for my day job yesterday and the place was about 10 minutes from where I fill up with E85, so I offered to drop the stuff and be a nice guy... What a mistake lol..

I get to the filling station and get 2 gallons of gas in my car, then the pump shuts off.. WTF? I look around, the lights in the station are out and so are the traffic lights even. It was raining pretty heavily, someone must've crashed! So I left to go drop off the parts figuring I would stop on my way back.

Now Im in the area of the testing facility and I can't find it. I keep looping around and turn around in a shopping center. As I pull out, I bottom out in the front pretty hard.. I NEVER bottom out.. I was so irritated and just flew out of the lot like a dumb ass. Didn't think anything of it and kept on driving. I finally find the place and as I pull in the Low Coolant light comes on.. That's weird.. Then I notice my coolant temp is around 250*!!! WTF!!?!?!?!!?!? Shut it off and coast in.

I get a gallon of water from them and poured some in, it comes right out immediately


THANKFULLY, I was 8 miles from my mom's house. It took me 2 hrs to limp the car there... Just a shitty shitty day


New rad is ordered already, just sucks.

 

That sucks ***** man! I know what you mean about finding places! I looped around the industrial side of Calgary for 20 minutes trying to find a chemical place that only had a little office and no signs! lol I was pretty pissed when I found the place!

They kept calling the place by the old name and I forgot they changed the name, so I was looking for the wrong place for a bit lol. But it's also in a tricky spot where if you don't take a certain exit you can't actually get to the place. Of course nobody at my job tells me the tricks to get there..

Holy crap that must be one he'll of a pot hole to puncture your radiator!! I cant imagine that happening without your bumper gettin messed up also, did it?

 

It didn't and the IC looks fine also. It looks like it cracked around the driver side mount on the bottom. It must've just hit on that spot or something and caused it to crack. Ill know more when I actually take it apart. I just dropped it at my mom's and took her Solstice :p

Yeah sounds like what I did in my LS Cobalt.

It actually broke right above the rubber mount. Weak spot in there I guess

it probably broke near or at a corner. Corners are the weakest points due to molded in stress during the injection molding process. theres not much that can be done about it. its the shitty thing about plastics.

 

End of Last month to now has pretty crappy for me, a deer clipped my hood ($325), something on my front suspension broke (car bouncing on small bumps, very rough ride, probably struts) and I got a random rock that hit my windshield on the way to work this morning & spidered a small lower right portion. On to dealer visit # 12312312 (for just suspension issue) and I do some spirited driving maybe twice a month, nothing rough + no track or drag usage at all, I'm weighing more cons than pros with my car at this point.

At first when I was in the middle reading through this, I thought you left and didnt pay and were gonna on your way back. I thought you were gonna say you got pulled over cause you left without paying.


But damn that sucks what happened to your ride.

 

I hate getting lost myself. Definitely stinks busting your car up in the process though. Look at it this way, you know where the place is now lol.

how can you get free gas? in Ca you pay first then pump, i guess other states are different.

 

When I hit a raccoon with my car, after I first got it, the bodyshop missed the fact that my radiator is broken in that same place on the passenger side. I got luck and it just broke the plastic tab off, but it does worry me that it might crack one day.

 

In Texas you can pay at the pump with your card, but if the pump shut down because of no power I would think it wouldn't finish the transaction. Was just a joke....

 

I know how you feel. The stock heat exchanger decided to just spring a leak on my cobra one day. I could still drive it, but I couldn't boost at all without the car pulling timing so it was extremely depressing.
