from my reading reviews through edmunds fast for th TBSS they are likely to have the same or very close 1/4 mile time.just do a search through google on tbss specs and cobalt ss/tc specs. but im sure others will chime in as well
edmunds says 14.0 for the cobalt and around 14.2 for the tbss. but everyone here knows that the cobalt sstc stock is capable of 13's

I think I saw some TBSS's creeping into the 13's stock as well. Either way it's going to be CLOSE!

I'd just see which one you like to drive and feel good in.

If you're just looking at pure, straight line-only track numbers I ran one at the track a couple months ago. If I recall correctly it was a 2WD model and without digging up the time slips want to say I won by a tenth or two with a pretty crappy launch/sixty foot. I remember lighting up the front tires but chasing him down and passing him on the top end of the track. He trapped ~95 to my 101 (really hot and muggy conditions).

I saw a new '08 Trailblazer SS at my dealer for something like upper $20k's but if I was buying a new one I'd probably look at the Saab 9-7x Aero. They have a nicer suspension tuning, they look better in my opinion and have a much nicer interior (considering they're based on the same platform and same basic pieces). You should also be able to cut a killer deal on one right now. When GM was doing the Employee Pricing a while back Saab was also offering incentive cash on top of the special pricing.

It's not the greatest on gas, but it's not too bad for what it is ;-)

I've seen guys running 14.7s in stock TBSS models...not impressive!

They can't handle worth a damn and get crappy fuel economy.

I've driven one. I wasn't blown away.

What shocked me was the 1/4 mile times that I saw several TBSS owners run in stock form.

TBSS are one of my favorite cars and can be damn quick. You have to remember there are 2wd models and awd models, pretty big difference...

the ss/tc is quicker stock with a GOOD driver. FYI my dad's tbss went 13.6 with only a tune in a 20mph headwind. food for thought

TBSSowners is great site about th trailblazer ss. I have one and I really like it. Mines 2WD and gets about 17 or so on the highway at 75 mph. City around 14 and thats moderately getting on it every now and then. Yes, it's bad on gas, but it is fun and for some, would you really expect it to handle that great, it's a 4500 pound SUV! I don't think you will regret either choice, unless gas goes to $5 a gallon. Good luck!

I would just avoid the handling issue by NOT getting a performance SUV. If I want an SUV I'll get a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel Overland...

If I want performance and driveablity, Cobalt SS...

I dislike the interior and handling on the TB (I mean interior quality isn't better on the Cobalt, but the design and asthetics are IMO)

I'm not a fan, dash/IP/center stack looks like it still belongs in the 90s

I too thought about a TBSS. But for the money and the additional cost of ownership (mainly due to MPG), it wasn't worth it for me. As for performance, I raced my 'self-tuned' SS/TC against my friend's tuned TBSS w/ !muffler and beat his ET by ~0.2 seconds and a good 2~3 mph.
