Is there any proof on changes for the 2009s?
Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but this is directly from the GM ordering guide:

I think just the area where to boost gauge is will be different, it will be similar to this: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/08-10-ss-turbocharged-general-discussion-152/reconfigurable-performance-display-ss-tc-105562/
Yeah...the performance display will become a reality.
Just to add...the HHR SS will have the performance display for 09. And notice that we no longer will have the L61 (2.2) or the LE5 (2.4).

Reign beat me to it. At the midwest meet the GM reps were very excited to hear how much everyone liked the perfomance display gauge. It is like a wideband on crack. Also, for 2009 they may offer the SS/TC wheels in black.
doesn't that mean that the 2.2l will continue? maybe i'm missing something lol
I hope they're proven changes, because I ordered one. Got the new radio, and the performance gauge. Also, my printout listed a easy entry front passenger seat as a standard feature in the 09 Coupe. I hope that's true because the lack of one in the 08 was a common complaint in reviews.
It is like a big areo-force gauge that lets you see just about everything the car is doing. IDC's,IAT's, AFR,MAF tables, ect ect.. The gauge lets you monitor a ton of stuff without having to add any more gauges to the car.
Here is the actual list list of stuff it lets you see.
Air / fuel ratio
Shift light
Digital MPH
Boost
Engine Temp
Outside Temp
Current weather for the day
Tire pressure
Oil Temp
Spark advance
Knock retard
Engine HP and TQ
Cam Phaser
G – meter
Digital gear number you’re currently in.
And more

If this is the case then GM finally did something good for the car
LAP is putting the old L61 to rest.
VVT gives more econo and a little more power... I think the LE5 will still be used, it will just be the LT with the Performance Appearance package...completely waning off Sport and showing that in Chevy's eyes my SS...isn't one.
What a buncha assfucks.

General Motors Corp. is rethinking the way its uses the SS moniker that has adorned souped-up Chevrolets since 1961.
SS -- for super sport -- has traditionally signaled performance versions of vehicles like the Camaro, Impala and most recently the Cobalt sedan.
The automaker felt it was getting a bit carried away with the label after putting it on the most recent version of the Malibu midsize sedan. So now only cars with the best horsepower, braking power and handling will get the title.
It's part of GM's bid to stoke sales by building exclusivity into some models, a move the automaker hopes will burnish the overall image of a brand and make other vehicles from the same nameplate more attractive to buyers.
"Not every car that has some extra features and fancy racing stripes can be an SS," said Ed Welburn, GM Design global vice president.

Ok, how do you explain the V6 Chevelle SS's of the 60s and 70s?
