I have a question for all TC owners that many will find immature. So I'll put on my flamesuit and ask anyway: Has anyone hit the 160 mph that this car is supposedly capable of?
The trick, of course, is to find a nice open stretch of road that is free of cars, potholes, animals, etc. Since my friend and I were have been able to do it in Northern NJ , I'm thinking some of us have done the same elsewhere. Both my Thunderbird SC and his '98 Z28 had plenty of room to safely (in our opinion) test the limits of our cars.
If no one has done it, no big deal. I was just curious.

Actually, it was more central NJ I suppose. It's the stretch of 287 Northbound before the left exit for 78. Its usually barren late night/early morning weekdays. You just have to be mindful of state troopers. The road is flat and paved and you have a fair amount of visibility for the stretch ahead.
Honestly, I'd love for someone to answer that they have access to a road course or airstrip where they have given it a shot. I just don't know how likely that is. I'm NOT for putting others in danger. Especially for something that is borderline stupid and definitely illegal.

i've hit 145 in the SS/SC, somewhere in the middle of AZ, and lemme tell you, it was getting a little scary. there's a video of someone getting up to 160 in the rain, *******. i'd like to know the answer to this too, but tested on a closed course, of course.
I don't think an airstrip would be long enough to get to top speed. Anyone know of a closed track that has a straight about 6 or 7 miles long? certainly no roads or "safe" areas to do it around here..
I wonder how long it would take you guys to get to those speeds. Then holding it there is another story all together. Myself I couldn't imagine getting a Cobalt up to those speeds, hell mine was spooky at 130 to 140! 170mph for anyone whos actualy been there is scary fast.
does it still handle good at those speeds? no wobbles or anything? does it feel too light? i havent gone past like 135 cuz i get sketched out in mine....i probobly could do it on I 380 if i have someone look for cops
Steering wheel must be held really well, like really really well.
ive done 165@5400rpm with my neon..redline at 6200rpm speedo was still goin, but there was a sharp curve up front and cars,so i braked..was at 2am in the morning..i think the tc can go 160 flat if there was enough room and safety available
my car is dropped, and as soon as i passed 150,the back end barely scratched the inner fender well.talk about downforce

My Thunderbird (3800+ lbs) was pretty stable around 140. My friend's 98 Z28 did not like the 167 it hit (especially the t-tops). My CBR was ok around 155, but the wind moved my helmet around quite a bit. Obviously aerodynamics (and even weight) play a large role, as others have commented on.

And hopefully someone has the ***** to try it lol.
