If you aren't going to get winter tires, at least get some all season ones. The stock Conti's don't work in snow, no traction or stopping, they are a summer only tire.

I run BFG g-force super sport A/S tires year round. OK in up to a few inches of snow, after that I take the 4WD.

Many swear by dedicated winter tires. I have an SUV when it gets real bad out.

I'm about to try a new tire this year...we'll see how it goes. Judging by the reviews, many are quite impressed with it It's cheap as hell too.

Barum Polaris 2. I believe they're a cheaper tire made by Continental, made in Germany or Russia or something...

In Quebec winter tires are obliged by law .. so I'll get the Hankook Icebear W300's they are really cheap price wise and got good reviews.

x2 have the same; cost on 18" snows hurts but is a necessity (unless you go with the few 17" that will fit) .

They're hard to find, but there's a Swedish company called Gizlaved that makes the Nordfrost 5 line of winter tires. They offer absolutely astonishing grip, and being rare/relatively unknown in North America they're cheaper than the Japanese and German alternatives. Volvo dealerships typically import a lot of them, so you may find some cheap there. I drove mine through a tough Canadian winter through snow past my front bumper and temperatures of -30F, and they never slipped up.

I run them in a 225/45R17.

Last year I used a set of 17" all season pirellis and I wasn't very impressed. This season I have a set of 205/50/17 Hankook ice bears to use. They may not be as best but they cost me $200 for all four with 2,000 miles on them. I am sure they will be better than the pirellis.

All-seasons are a lie. You'll do much better with dedicated snow tires. Seriously... Cars with all-seasons can't even make it up my driveway in the winter, much less drive safely on the roads.

General Altimax tires are rebranded Gislaved Nordfrost 3's (both companies are owned by Continental). I had put some on my GTP last winter and they worked great, the car drove like I was on dry roads in most conditions.

I've heard good things about those, a local TC owner has a set.

Just got my winter tires yesterday... ordered Bizzak ws60s from tirerack. Had very if not #1 high deep snow, ice, and hydroplaning ratings. Erie has some bad ass winters so I figured I do it right.

Good man, you won't be disappointed. My driveway at home is a nightmare and catches out all but the best equipped cars... My dad's Altima has WS60s and struggles sometimes, but last winter I never had ONE issue with the Nordfrost 5s - the SS/TC was simply unstoppable.

Where are you picking them up, if you don't mind my asking?

The 17" BSA Model 264 fits (I use them), the Fast Salsa, and the SS/NA wheels off the top of my head.

On the SS/SC I used Viking SnowTech's and they were outstanding. They had great grip and, if used properly (not run in the summer) barely wear at all. Mind you I had less than 10,000 kms/6000 miles on them (now I just have to sell them).

For this winter I just ordered a set of the Hankook Ice Bear W300's (205/50VR17) and a set of MB Wheels Seven X wheels. The wheels aren't officially out yet but should be out in a few weeks. More info on them here: http://www.wheelsbymbmotoring.com/pr...heel=Seven%20X

If you can find a set of SS/NA wheels you are golden though. They are getting hard to find.

Bit of a delayed response here, but I just got back from picking them up. I got them used off of a guy who is selling his TC soon.

16 inch will not clear the Brembos. The spare actually can only be mounted on the rear, thus if you get a front flat you will have to move a rear tire to the front. 17 inch is the smallest that will work and even then there are a select few.
