Tune bust?

How many people have been cought with an aftermarket tune, by taking their car do the dealership to get checked 4 anything. Thinking about getting a trifecta tune but the warranty holds me back, and the gms1 is a little to expensive gracias.

Bumpedy bump bump

I dont think any one has been cought, the dealership cant tell if its tuned or not with trifecta unless they go for a drive as far as HP just flash it back to stock before you go in everytime thats what I do

HP Tuners 'write entire' stock file FTW!

Trifecta you would need the flasy thingy to go back to stock. Another rental charge/tuner visit or purchase ther dealer kit I believe.

Actually if you own the trifecta cable, you can just flash back to stock. The Trifecta tune saves a copy of your tune before you flash it over with the Trifecta.

Or a local Trifecta dealer will help you out if they're cool, which most of them are. I know the dealership put a brand new engine in Cavaleirss's balt and didn't find the trifecta tune. It was drinking coolant.

How much did u pay 4 that one. Thanks everybody 4 the input, really helps on me getting an aftermarket tune. And how does this flashing work I live in the south of texas, I think the nearest trifecta dealer is in houston if I'm correct. I can't just buy it install it and that's it right cuz they have to do some adjusting 2 it.

You do not need to go through a "dealer". A Trifecta "dealer" isn't quite as official as you might think. Keep in mind that 95% are NOT actual tuners, just button pushers. It's just a guy with a data cable (that anyone can puchase through trifecta, or any other tuner parts source for that matter) who loads a tune sent from Vince, and does some data logging (via software that you can download straight from Trifecta's site) to send off to Vince for tweeking. You can just as easily purchase the cable yourself, go through Vince directly, and save yourself the headache of dealing with someone who you are paying to literally do nothing in most cases. That's just my oppinion

Ask the last 3 guys I installed tunes for how I "literally did nothing" for the combined 16hours of part install assistance, tune install, datalogs, and reflashes....

I know you said "in most cases", but if you haven't done it, don't bash.

Trifecta tunes are also cheaper through dealers and if you have one near you, almost instantly done instead of waiting for a week to get your handheld tuner.

its 200 dollars to buy the cable i guess its worth it so you dont get in trouble meanwhile my aunt got me the extended warranty and i just boosted the car! Cant wait to go into the dealership for some bullshit and they see the TVS and say my warranty isnt valid easy 2k in my pocket they will refund it.

think you can fine tune my LE5 i'm on like my 10th tune from Vince i heard its never gonna be 100% unless its done in person. Its not safe to be stalling at redlights when you turn on the a/c and when it doesn't stall it will bogg and then launch like a bat outta hell.

lol.. umm really? Just an FYI, I'm a Trifecta "dealer" and have done quite a few tunes. The difference is I actually use my own logging software (no not the trifecta software) to veryify any tune loaded in a vehicle is running properly. Believe it or not, Vince has made mistakes that I had to bring to his attention for him to fix which otherwise would have been overlooked if I didn't do my own logging. So please don't assume that I have no experience in the matter. Not all of us are snot nosed little 16 year olds driving thier first car. Some of us are almost 30

I'm not pointing any fingers here so don't get defensive, I just know there are quite a few shady guys out there trying to pawn off themselves as a trifecta tuner when really (aside from BYT) NONE of the tirfecta dealers are tuners (yes including me), they are just blindly loading tunes. I know exactly what to look for in logs to fix any possible errors (Vince is a busy guy, so it happens from time to time) but NO trifecta tuner could claim to have the knowledge of a true tuner. If they did, they would actually be tuning with real tuning software like HPT and not sending them off to have the maps/tables modified by someone else.

i guess whenever you take the car in you can order the cable put the 200 deposit on it use it then ship it back. I was told by the guy who sold me my car tunes are a big no no maybe some piping but thats about it. Most of the time i am taking my car in for shitty electrical problems such as the car dying with a fresh batt they always plug the car in and he said thats when they would see the tune.

There are so many things that bother me about your post I don't know where to start.

My last 2 tune installs entailed a total of 14 logs and 8 reflashes...

I'll be 31 in September...

I have seen about 18 members advertise that they are Trifecta dealers, not a single one has ever given me the impression that they are the "tuner".

BYT IS a real tuner and HAS HPTuners, yet he still became a Trifecta dealer... why? because its the best platform for tuning our cars. It's the most unlocked and has the support of the MOST EXPERIENCED cobalt tuner in the WORLD....

Not being defensive, just saying that I would never classify what I do as "litterally doing nothing".

The ******* who tuned me first didn't know this apparently, and I got busted. They told me I had a non gm calibration.

Was this a-hole a HP Tuner or Trifecta Dealer? Was this a stealth tune for an LNF or just a regular LSJ Tune?

ok AGAIN, no one was pointing the finger at you so stop feeling the need to defend yourself so strongly. Also, never did I say that you were a 16 year old kid. My statement was directed at the fact that you told me not to bash things that I know nothing about implying that I was blindly speaking out of my ass.

I personally have delt directly with customers who have had shitty trifecta tunes done because the dealer datalogged a total of once and told him everything was perfect when in fact it was far from it. I saw posts on the forum with them having issues with thier car, saw that they were local, and fixed the issues for next to nothing even though I didn't have to. Plus I always see dealers in hear talking up the service as if they were actually doing the tuning, this has always rubbed me the wrong way so I finally opened my mouth. So excuse me for speaking my mind as a Trifecta customer and reseller. Again, nothing was directed at you..

You obviously misread my comment about BYT. What I was getting at is he IS an actual tuner who combines HPT tuning along with Trifecta tuning, but in the end (unlike most Trifecta resellers), he is an actual tuner who knows his **** about tuning a vehicle. That's it.. seriously man, stop taking this so much to heart.
