As the title states, I'd like to hear which is the best or if they are all basically equal with just different claims n such.
Obviously, the stage 1 from Gm isn't coming out anytime soon, so I want to get a good tune sometime next week. Is there anybody in Alberta that can do this, or should I just get a trifecta ordered from the states, or something similar?

And most importantly, has anyone had any troubles with their cars after being tuned that could've been caused by the tune, and I don't mean blown axles, trannies or clutches from your personal driving style :P This is the part that worries me a little since my 1 month old car already blew its first ECM while being totally stock.. so if I get tuned and it does it again, I'll be f00ked since Gm is lazy and **** these days. Any input would be greatly appreciated..

Also, are these tunes just like plug n play, or "canned", or does somebody on the other end actually tune every car individually, which would be the best way imho since every car is always slightly different.

Custom dyno or street tune with HP Tuners.

 

I have a Superchips Cortex hand held tuner and it's great. It doesn't make as much power as a trifecta or custom tune but it is really convenient . You flash it to the car and it records the stock tune so it can flash it back to stock at anytime. Like i said it's not a ***** to the wall tune , but it sure is fun for a plug and play type deal. It's dynoed mid 280's Whp and 300ish Wtq IIRC .

It also can data log a whole bunch of different parameters and can read trouble codes and clear them. It's sits on my dash reading IAT temps, fuel trims, AFR and timing. All in all for 300 buck's (got mine used ) it was a good deal for me . Also when you flash your car back to stock , it can be used on any other GM car or truck that it supports, so i you decide to go with the stage kit when it comes out , you can sell it to a broad range of GM owners.

Ya.. and therein lies the real question I guess lol.. the guys I met last night at a meet were mostly running superchips, probably the cortex. I still believe being tuned properly as an individual car is the best way to go but if there's nobody here, would the trifecta work since I heard that it's custom done somehow, maybe by satellite or internet or something, Idk tbh.

 

As far as i know Trifecta sends a handheld that logs all the different parameters that they need to monitor in order to tune the car . They take those values and tweak their base tune to fit your car . It's as close to a custom tune as you can get without having a tuner do it on a dyno.

THIS IS MY OPINION.......It might work differently , i have no experience with trifecta , this is just my take on it.

 

you tell trifecta what mods you have to your car, vince tweaks the tune according to your mods, they send you a programmer, you plug it in to your car and upload the tune, you have 300 hp... PERIOD

How hard is it to tune with HPTuners?
Obviously I'm not a tuning guru but I've been reading a lot about the different parameters of the ECU and I've read the key to making it run good is keeping everything smooth.

 

Do you really want to learn HPtuners on your new 2XXXX K dollar SS/TC? That would make me nervous.
