Question turbo swapped car sounds wierd

As 99% of u already know I did a bnr2871 swap a couple days ago. So far everything works. Haven't tried full boost cuz im unturned. Anyway, this turbo is quiet....

Is it supposed to be? I could hear my stock turbo before it even started making boost but with the bnr I hear nothing. It boosts up to 5 psi just fine (haven't took her over 5) but I hear no "whistle"

I also have 3" straight piped exhaust and with the stock turbo u can hear it "whistle" when im on light throttle. With the bnr I get no "whistle" and my car has a rumble to it instead but not the subaru of death noise.

Maybe this turbo is quiet because of the journal bearing? Any thoughts? That is my only concern. Everything else is ok. No codes or KR.

You don't hear the stock turbo at 5psi either... Wait until tuned, got WOT then you should be able to hear it. If anything there should be a slight audible difference in the exhaust. What the turbo sounds like sucking in air will vary depending on intake.

Could get a velocity stack for the turbo if you want to hear it....

Well at idle my exhaust sounds somewhat similar but with the stocker, u can hear the turbo spool up and down when you rev. I can't hear jack with this one. Lol. My car sounds like a mazdaspeed3 at idle too.

I think I do need to go in and tighten down the turbo support bracket..

Wonder if that could account for any noise.

Well MS3's do sound pretty good.

Edit: the S2b turbo we did on my friends SRT4 which is essentially the same thing as the BNR2871 for his car really isnt loud either and may be a tad quieter than his stock turbo. Honestly, if the car builds boost, you have no oil/coolant leaks, or vacuum/boost leaks you should be good. The biggest issue is waiting until Wednesday for the tune.

True. Apparently since its journal bearing its going to be quiet. But it works and holds boost. Just hope full boost is ok. Lol.
