according to gm... our the turbo on the LNF will cool down fast enough that all you need to do is idle for a minute or two... no need for a turbo timer... search the LNF forum... and you will see.

im getting one.

i just think they are sick, get out of your car and a minute later you hear it shut off. Its cool too at meets and stuff, when i see cars and they start it up and show me what it's got and then they shut it off and it stays on ahah.

Isn't that essentially what a turbo timer does, except you don't have to be in the car for it to shut off?

what i mean by that is that unless your doing racing right before you pull into the drive way... then you don't need a turbo timer... it will spin down and cool off enough since it is both water and oil cooled.

Its amazing that people are still stuck on turbo timers, with the small size of our turbos the fact we have water and oil cooled bearings in the turbo and we have synthetic oils there is absolutely no need if there was GM would not warranty this thing for 5 years 100,000 miles or they would have put some form of timer or water pump to continue to cool down the turbo, sometimes the fan will stay on 1-2min after shut-off but there is no need for a timer

Its not needed on these cars...

Now if you had a larger oil cooled turbo it would be different

oh well... silly people spending their money where they don't need to... a turbo timer won't make the car any faster... spend the money on a tune and exhaust and intake and call it a day.

the SRT4 is not a Cobalt SS/TC though... i mean, if you need one for a large oil cooled turbo, then ok, but if not, then its pointless to have. Just extra money to spend, and another reason for the dealership to try and screw you out of a warranty.

still another reason for the dealer to try to screw you... why give them the chance to give you a hassle? its not need for our cars, but if you must, I guess... it will be handy if you upgrade to a larger turbo.

how are they gonna screw me, ill show them the car mofication and dealer warranty act, what are they gonna say, my turbo timer caused my rear brakes to malfunction, no and if so ill just sue them and fight it and get money back. It's just letting the turbo cool 30 seconds longer after you shut it off. Calm the **** down.

I see no need for it on a stock turbo, but i agree... lets just enjoy our cars. Its your car, do what you want with it. I hope it works out for the best. And if you do put a larger turbo, then I can see the need for it...

your turbo's are oil and water cooled its really not needed....i "do" need it because my turbo is only oil cooled so there for i need the extra time to allow it cool...

but it is your car...and it really wouldnt hurt the turbo if you did add a turbo timer...so good luck with that

1.) Stock turbo on an SS/TC doesn't need a Turbo Timer

2.) All of you Cobalt n00bs will figure out soon enough that the e-Brakes on these cars are JUNK. Hopefully, when it happens, it won't cost you any money. I wouldn't trust leaving the car on the ebrake at all... I've seen waaaaay too many failed ebrake threads.

isn't our stock turbo larger than that of an srt-4?

waiting in the car for 1 to 2 minutes is THE SAME as having a timer... it would PROPABLY be safe to have one, i myself have 1 en route, only for the sheer fact that i don't like the whole "rode hard, put up wet" feeling... is it necessary? probably not, but is it a good idea to have? yes
