TWM shifter reverse lockout is annoying
Does anyone have an issue with it being hard to get into reverse? It shifts well and it goes into reverse but the TWM piece is real tight when going on to the stock base lockout piece. Its challenging to get into reverse some times. Its getting really annoying. It would be real nice if it went into reverse smoothly. Im pretty sure I adjusted it properly. When I shift to 5th gear the TWM shaft touches the stock base. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this same thing happen or if mine is defective or something. Thanks for the input guys.

It's been my complaint with the POS from day one, that the reverse lockout tang is not located properly. You can adjust for it, but then the shifter ends up out of proper position and first gets hard to engage. TWM is the one and only mod I regret doing. I'm looking at getting a BPS.

I just installed the TWM as well, and took me about 20mins to adjust it properly, but I have had no problems shifting into 5th or reverse. Just make sure you lift the lock up all the way, and dont be lazy, and it should slip over just fine if you have it set properly.

I have it adjusted as far over as it can go to the right. If i adjusted it any further it wouldn't go into 5th gear at all. I guess ill just live with it but I do kinda regret getting it at this point. It wouldn't be a big deal if they were reasonably priced but it would be stupid just to go sell it. You would loose way to much. I should have just went with hurst or bps to begin with. Well or just stayed stock.

When I bought it I expected it to be perfect...in this case you get what you pay for doesn't apply haha. Could they have just milled a tiny bit more off the reverse tab? I feel like that would be perfect.

road runner I ran into that, no doubt, the shifter was made wrong. Get twm to take it back. It isnt you, its something I have seen with these shifters. To be fair the customer it belonged to got after them and they sent another one and it installed perfectly . I talked to and sent to TWM the shifter measurements ahead of time but they didnt appear to respond to that, the customer bitched and they fixed it by supplying another one which installed fine.
I still have the faulty part, they didnt care to have it back.
amazing.

Not all shifters are bad, and TWM obviously dont try to mis machine them. But it can happen, I have seen it, and if you cant adjust it so it doesnt grind the heck out of the shift pedestal in fifth/ reverse, and cant be adjusted the other way over as it makes first impossible to engage, then its not the car. Its the shifter.
I bet if roadrunner puts his stock shifter back, it will be fine.
NONE of these aftermarket shifters have the OEM adjuster provision made into them, I bet it would cost about 600 dollars to make it right ,so it does.

I believe the reverse lockouts on the TWM were made too big. You can adjust it so either 1,2,3,4,R(shifter biased right) or 2,3,4,5 (shifter biased left) goes in smoothly but not for all of the gears.
A fix I've been thinking about is trimming down the reverse lockout after biasing the shifter right. You can lift the reverse lockout, get the shifter into 5th, and releasing the reverse lockout to see how much interference there is. I'm guessing about 50 thou worth of removal ought to do the trick.
Does anybody know if there is a hardstop for gears 1 and 2? ie. What is stopping the shifter on the left side? Is it the tranny or is there a limiter on the housing itself?
