Hey all, wondering if any one could run 2 vins for me. Two nice cobalt TCs on autotrader but they are 100+ miles away, they haven't gotten back to me about the LSD for both cars.

2010 TC - 1G1AG1FX1A7148136
2009 TC - 1G1AP18X397148437

thank you to any one that could look that up for me, I appreciate it

I thought LSD came standard on the 09-10 and was an option on the 08's. I am not positive but I remember reading that on here somewhere.

It's not, trust me I know. I'm reminded I don't have one every time I auto-x my car. On the SS/SC, the G85 gave you Recaro seats and the LSD. On the TC you just get the LSD.

G85 was LSD only on SS/TC's and was a 295 dollar option. why not just tell them to check the RPO sticker and look for G85 or have them send you a picture of it?

Idk who would ever knowingly agree to an open diff on a turbo fwd car...

Apparently GM seeing as they sold some of them without it. Nonetheless, I was able to pass a F-150 the other day on the outside of a turn. Yea, the inner tire was spinning (meaning I don't have LSD ), but I still came out in front with little hassle.

This was an available feature for the Cobalts you listed, and according to the vehicle builds I have on my system, they're both equipped with LSD.

I didnt know there was someone on here from GM Customer Service.... how about rectifying our rear brake issue! lol The fact that my rear brakes went bad at 5k miles, were placed by the dealer, and went bad again at 12k miles. I replaced them myself with quality aftermarket parts at 15k miles, and I'm now on 38k miles with no issues. Seems like a problem to me..... especially seeing probably about 90% of the SS/TC owners on here have had that problem.

Sorry for the thread-jack OP. Like others have said, just check your RPO list, its a sticker in your truck under the carpeting.... it lists all options, if you have G85 it should be listed there. My car has it, personally I think it was crazy to offer a car like this without it. The car was very well designed with performance in mind so why even make it an option not to have it?

There is a thread dedicated to the rear brakes.

OP is looking at buying the above listed VIN's, does not own either, so the RPO list and reliability of the salesman's word does little for him.

Yup, Ive been aware of that thread since it was created, I bought my car back in 2008.... that threads unfortunately gone no where.

I understand he doesnt own the cars, but... I would imagine if he's going to buy one of them he would be going to look at it and could check the RPO list then.

Hey 80VetteL82 check out my thread.
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/susp...lcomed-269410/

GM gave me a quote for:
Rear Pads - $384
Rear Rotor X2 - $292
Labour Inc Service Calipers - $185.27

Front Pads - $384
Front Rotor X2- $291.86
Labour Incl Service Calipers - $185.27

Total Labour = $370.50
Total Parts= $1351.86
Tax = $223.91
Total = $1946.27

$768 JUST for pads. Brake pads are more expensive then rotors...

Now that's an expensive brake job. I had squealing since day 1 and the dealer told me I need to brake harder because they are sport tuned brakes.

the only TC's which came std with RPO: G85 (LSD) were the 2010 model year Canadian SS's ~ those are distinguished easiest with RPO: Z49 ~ and would have had small differences in std equipment including slightly altered headlight functions...

but apparently your original question has been twice answered...

Soundjunky can you get more into detail on the slightly altered headlight function? And do you know if there is a vent on the headlights or is it sealed up tight? I just had 1 replaced under warranty due to water leakage. They look similar on the outside but i'd like to know more so I can judge if they replaced it with an exact match, coming up on 60,000km and they said I lose a lot of coverage even though I bought the ******* 140,000km/3yr. Sorry now I'm just stoned ranting.

Good to go, verified through GM vehicle build.

THANK YOU BOTH! I appreciate it

Yea, it's kind of tough to go check the trunk codes when both cars are 150+ miles away! Sad too, one of them has had some questionable movements accross the US... sold new in Ohio, traded into a Ford dealership, Traded/swapped (one can only guess, got it without a title change?) to a GM dealer in Maryland, sold as certified used to owner #2 in Pennsylvania, had for a year til some other service and sales place lists it as offered for sale? repo or something?

THEN they sell it an an auction to another service and sales place. A 2010 with LSD, RPD, side curtain airbags, USB radio, fully loaded, selling for $15,500 and that's making a profit? what the hell did they get it for? and how did the auction make any $$? so many middle men, so many little profits made, and the car is still underselling.

Not sure how I feel about it, but I mandated that the seller should go get the car inspected by a chevrolet dealer and have its warranty status verified. has an Injen CAI and god knows what else without looking at it, driving it or hearing it...

I Wantz turbo cobalt!!1!

Gonna call the dealer tomorrow and send me a pic. I know its g85 package

I've got the G85 package with NO recaros so G85 only applies to the LSD. In addition, even though I have the G85 package, I can still make one wheel spin when gassing it hard thru turns.
