Well, almost got ran off the road

Some people are ********! Had a Ford f-350, pulling a pretty good sized trailer try running me off the road. The double lane was turning into a single lane and he was in the left lane (which was half gone at this point) and the truck was only beside me. Still had the trailer yet. So I had to hit the brakes so he didn't drive over me. I can't believe how stupid some people can be.

The left had to go into the right.

I'd have to know the laws where you live. But alot of places, the merging lane has the right of way...

The truck had plenty of warnings that his lane was coming to an end before he even got next to me. Guess I should also say that the left lane is the passing lane, and the right lane is the main driving lane.

Thought about it, but me being nice I let him get in front.

Well his redneck pickup truck and redneck trailer would probably pick up a bunch of rocks and stones, and maybe he would toss out a cigarette or two as well. I would have downshifted to get in front. The pickup truck was trying to kill you (not really but it's something that you must consider while riding a motorcycle).

Same here. But I always give the bigger truck the right a way. Seems to make things easier

Merging vehicles have to slow down or speed up to get in traffic here. They don't have the right of way. I got hit by an f-350 so don't complain!

I've seen both right land and left lane be the merging lane. It's usually the right lane though.

Law here is that the merging lanes ALWAYS have to yield. If someone tries forcing me to let them in, I get in front of them and brake check them very hard.

Even if you're getting on the highway, you have to yield to the cars already on there.

So instead of being the good guy in this case you try to be a dick and stand your ground to a truck? Not trying to be rude or a dick but you could have always been the better person and let him pass.

There are many left lanes that merge right in SE MI. Like I said, everyone is out to kill you when you ride a motorcycle. The Cobalt is small enough of a car that the mentality should transfer over. Even Valentino Rossi thinks of cagers as faking idiots.

Even if said truck had sped up past all the people who did the right thing and merged early?

We don't completely know what the situation was, but I can say that I absolutely HATE people who know the lanes merge and try going all the way up to where they merge to try and get around everyone who merged early.

Yea in Michigan it usually is the right lane merging... but if you've ever driven in Atlanta its usually the left lane... so it varies by state... Just like how the Michigan U is a must... where indiana thats a TICKET...

Why do people keep saying that lane closure depends on state?

Lane Closure depends on which lane they need closed. If they are doing shoulder work on the right side, then the right lane is closed. If they are doing work on the left lane, then the left lane is closed.

This story reminds me of my gf telling me she didn't know she was supposed to yield. We were sitting next to a yield sign.

Everyone needs to learn to drive. If your lane isn't the one closed, then you have the right of way. Now if you are purposely blocking someone, that's a different story all together.

straight up san antonio is like that crap... when youre trying to merge onto the highway and the merging lane turns into a exit only lane and cars wont move the **** outa your way to merge into the normal lanes.. thats y i say im an "aggressively defensive driver" i speed around the slow retards so that way they wont cause me to get into an accident..

basically when i drive on 281 in texas that is a one way and a constantly changing from 1-2 lanes and merging i jus speed around any truck unless he is hauling ***** and moving already..

Michigan has both left to right, and right to left merge lanes. End of discussion.

F-350 Dually with Trailer = 6000-7000 lb, maybe 400 hp.
Cobalt SS/TC = 3000-3200 lb, 260 hp.

Downshift and accelerate, or slow and let them pass. Don't play games with trucks.

So do I, but when it comes down to a F350 pulling a trailer and my little cobalt I'm not going to try and fight him to get in front, I'm just gonna let him go.

I'm not talking about construction...

Bridge on my road has the left lane merge to right lane traffic... into one lane... and I notice that happen if the road goes from two lane to one lane all over indiana... it was opposite in Georgia...

Construction is completely different...

mmm and please point out where the OP even said construction was a factor... :x

Very common around where I live. In cities normally the right lane merges into the left but in more rural roads it can go either way in fact more roads around here are set up to where the left lane merges into the right.
