Hey! I got an idea. Why not route the intake air through a intercooler mounted in front of the AC duct in the passenger cabin. That ought to be good for 20 hp?

We did some testing that showed a 3-5 temperature difference between the ambient air intake temp sensor and after the intercooler.
That is AMAZING to see. Most pre-intercooler / after intercooler temp differences we have seen are like, 15-30 degrees different.
Also, after making several passes at full throttle, the air intake temps will consistently rise due to the intercooler becoming heat soaked.
The MPx intercooler, with more passes, would stay more consistent temperature wise.
I dont have any way to log this, I was only doing testing with a aeroforce interceptor through the OBD2 port.

I took a look at Hahn data a while back. Temps were lower ONLY after heat soak. Once you get the cars moving..they're isn't any significant temp drop over stock..nor are there any performance improvements. In all practicality, this Modern IC will *only* offer a stronger piece. I would be really surprised to see performance gains/temp drops under *normal* (not heat soak) conditions.

i don't imagine you would need a tune for just an intercooler. But don't quote me on that. And I believe the stock intercooler is only good for minimum boosting. To my understanding, they heat soak fairly easily when you're pushing the turbo past 15 psi.

This intercooler was designed to replace the factory one. What does that mean? Means no matter what pressure piping you have on the car fitment it more than likely not going to have any problems.
SN: I'm pretty sure MPx's own Cobalt SS/TC is running Injen CP which fits the stock intercooler which means this one fits as well >.<. And on the cold side....same this as stated above. Order up. Getting mine soon.

The stage kit has nothing to do with the fitment of this IC.
