Why E-85?

I see on here frequently of others running E and getting better power with it. I know E-85 produces something like 30% less energy than gasoline so how does running E improve performance any? Just something I've been wondering but not something I plan on doing.

From: New Jersey then. Now Orlando Florida
E-85 has a higher resistance to detonate and also helps with cooling. You are able to run a much more aggresive tune with it.

30% more fuel than gasoline, cooler charge, less knock.

Still stock. I know before I even think about E I need a tune and full bolt ons. I don't think there is a tuner near me and even if there was it wouldn't be till after Christmas.

No E pumps around me but one on turn pike and that's too much of a hassle to go to just to fill up

I would suggest you use e47 first. The fuel demands and gains without supporting mods like cams will bring issues on e85.

Being experienced with mixing E47 every week, I tell everyone the same thing: if it's your daily driver, don't mess with it. I don't DD my 'balt and it's fine to run E47, but planning the pumps out on a long drive makes it a pain in the ass. If I had to drive it daily, I would just run gas.
